Was the Dream Team to strict with the times when prizes were handed out?

How about just being happy that someone in your family won something?

I think it is sad that a promotion that was meant to instill magic in people seems to have instead brought out feelings of entitlement and rage. Not you, CR Resort fan, but in general. There were so many posts from people either stalking the Dream Team or mad because of some supposed slight, that it really put a cloud over the promotion.

I just missed out on receiving a dream twice. Once it was the dream fast pass. The second time it was the dream mouse ears. I was disappointed, but I didn't feel Disney owed me either thing. Either I was in the right spot at the time, or I wasn't. That's just life.

What if one parent had one child, and one had another? Would they have denied one a prize? Boy, that would have made for a "magical moment"!

Yes, they would have. And yes, it did. I have friends at Guest Relations and they had complaints every day from dozens of Guests who were furious that they didn't win something.

I am guessing someone from your tour saw this happen and was able to send a message to the Dream Team up ahead not to award her with the prize, which was the right thing to do since no one should cut in front to get on an attraction.

Nope. The Dream Squad operated completely independently of Operations. And trust me: if anyone from Operations tried to tell the Dream Squad who they could or couldn't give a prize to, they'd find themselves in hot water very quickly.

The Dream SQUAD was entirely random; nobody except them had advance notice of when/where/what would be awarded, or how.

Actually, often they had no advance notice, either. They'd be told to pick up a batch of prizes, and head immediately to a particular attraction for additional instructions. Once there, they'd be told how many prizes were to be awarded and the exact time they were to start.

Last month when my family and I had won our Dream Ears comming of the Haunted Mansion my dad walked right past the Dream Team and the very next second is when my mom and I won them. When we said he was with us they said there was nothing they could do because he was not there at the right time, even though he was standing a foot away.

So I was wondering now that the Year of a Million Dreams is now over in situations like my family and I had was the Dream Team to strict when it came to awarding the prizes because we still think all of us should have got the ears and it's not like my Dad was 100 feet away from us and ran back saying what about me?

It is tough. But policies are strict and there will be some upsets. I could feel the anguish and surprise from your position. You won something and that is a great news. Your father is not part of it and that is a sad news.

We have been fortunate to win many dream fast passes, pins and hats in our recent travels... on each occasion would we tell them that a certain member of our party was missing ( if it happened to be the case) and they always gave us additional items.... if we were all there then we didn't... but they were alwasy wonderful about it....

You seem to be lucky. You found understanding people to give you gifts. Now I wish I find some of them you found when I visit Disney. I Wish all my family members get lucky.

An opportunity missed for Disney to instill more polite guest behavior: Having Dream Team members specifically ignore guests who come running up.

As well as Dream Team members are supposed to notice guests wearing green socks or whatever the watchword of the moment is, not guests noticing Dream Team members.

There was a computer. It would spit out time, area and prize, and it would be handed to a team of dream squad, and they would go issue the prize. Nothing else mattered.

Actually, if she was in the right place at the right time... no matter how she got there... she would have been a winner.

The reasoning behind the rules of the sweepstakes is actually Sweepstakes LAW. The Dream Squad gave away prizes at the designated time and place because those were the rules. If they had given a hat to the other member of your group they would have been breaking the LAW.

Think of it this way: you buy a lottery ticket and 5 out of 6 of your numbers hit. You aren't the winner. They can't say "awwww, he was close, give him the million dollars".

As for the fast passes, there was some flexibility built into that prize to accommodate say, a child too short to ride a coaster and the rest of the family wins. If only half your group gets fast passes, the prize is essentially worthless.

Good point...Bottom line here...He was AHEAD of the people that started winning...The dream squad computer awards "card" was very specific....

Go to ebay...They are selling pretty cheap and he can have his own set.
