Was everyone in the country driving to WDW yesterday?

Our typical 9.5-10 hour drive took 13.5 hours yesterday with stop and go traffice starting in Atlanta and all the way down I-75. It seemed like most of the slow downs were due to the number of cars on the road or looking at an accident on the other side. We usually drive to WDW but then again we also usually go during the off season. I guess we learned our lesson that if we're coming during a busy time then we better fly, but we heard on the radio that the MCO airport was experiencing 2.5 hour arrival delays as well. Now I'm really concerned what the parks will look like tomorrow.

Welcome to Good Friday traffic! It's Easter weekend don't forget! I believe there has been some nasty rain causing flight delays into MCO. Expect the park to be very crowded tomorrow. It is Easter. We often visit during the Easter week, but do not go to the parks on this day. It's been a good day to relax at the resort and partake in any Easter activities they have planned.

I *heard* there was one couple who stayed at home in Hicksville, Ohio.
But that could just be a rumor!

;)

We were at MK yesterday, and I think that everyone must have already been there and not still on the road.

Thanks all! ;) u nfortunately, tomorrow is DH's b-day and he wants to go to the Magic Kingdom to get his b-day sticker and brave the crowds. This should remind him why we travel during the off season.

Well, I was driving north from Atlanta... and I asked my dad if ALL the snowbirds were told to pack at once. I have NEVER seen more motor homes on the road heading North! LOL!

we drove down last Easter from NY and will never do that again. It seemed half of NY and NJ were driving down 95.The parks were packed like we had never seen before. We had a great time but we have done everything numerous times and chose not to wait on lines.(test track was over 2 hours)

disworldnum1- where on Staten Island are you from? I haven't noticed you post here before. It's good to see more Staten Islanders here!

Ah, the car at the GA/FL border puts on his brakes and the car in Atlanta has to do the same thing routine. Had that happen to me one Xmas. The traffic was unbelieveable.

There was some sort of motorhome convention nenar Macom Ga over the previous week. We saw them arriving the previous weekend. We have an RV friend, said there were over 8,000 RV's there. We saw a continous line of 30 headed north on 75 to it last week.

No, everyone was NOT heading to Florida yesterday, someone stayed home in Michigan to turn out the lights for EVERYONE else who DID go south, and I am not too happy about it either! And if you all come home with a tan, I am going to be seriously jealous! :3dglasses

We braved the Magic Kingdom on Easter Sunday and actually found it manageable. Of course, we didn't arrive until 3 PM but that was just in time to watch the Easter Parade. The lines were long in the afternoon but we got fast passes and took time to do things we don't always make time for like Carousel of Progress. Starting about 830PM, lines become non-existant. Everyone must have been on main street to watch Wishes but we took advantage and rode more after 830 than we had all day. It turned into a rather pleasant Easter Sunday.

I'm glad to hear this! Did DH have a birthday picture taken with Mickey?

We were driving back (north) from Orlando on Good Friday and the southbound traffic on I-95 was unbelievable. There were huge stretches of bumper-to-bumper standstill and very few areas where cars appeared to be going the speed limit.

I'm sure the delay was at least several hours.

We had traffic but the only significant delay was an hour where I-4 meets I-95. We felt lucky to be going home.

No, all he asked for was a kiss from a Princess so he had his picture taken with Cinderella. However, we were both surprised when a personalized autographed picture of Mickey arrived in our room with a bouquet of balloons! Two thumbs WAY up for the BWV cast members!
