Was Disney's Black Diamond collection of movies officially known as The Classics?

I was looking up old TV logos on Youtube and discovered that in the 80's until the 90's Disney used to refer to their Black Diamond movies as The Classics and the first logo was introduced in 1984 and the intro music was a fanfare. Then Disney began using a new version of The Classics logo with the famous Mickey intro and adding music like a game show and then that same music was used when Disney renamed The Classics black diamond movie series Disney Masterpiece Collection and added Tinker Bell to the new intro. Was The Classics an early name for the reissues of Disney movies? I also found that Disney released a series called Disney Mini Classics that were later renamed Favorite Stories series. Were they also released to go with the Black Diamond movie series as well?
