Hi, is there anyone out there that was at Disneyland Resort in California last October of 2006?
If so, what was the weather like?
How were the lines, and were there a lot of rides closed?
Thanks in advance.
:cheer2:

We were there the 20th thru 25th I think. Weather was actually BEAUTIFUL - very warm, even had to buy some short sleeves there it was so warm. We threw on our sweatshirts or long sleeves at night, but didn't use our coats but maybe one evening. In Oct. 2005 we had some rain but the weather was still nice, did use our coats more that year.

Lines weren't bad, I think max was around 20 minute wait. Most were pretty much walk-on or short wait. The year before was even less wait but the Halloween decorations were amazingly increased in 2006.

This year the Island, Splash, Francis Lady Bug Boogie, Matterhorn, and Mr. Toad was closed while we were there. Small World went down while we were there for Holiday refurb, but that always happens so we expected it.

October is one of the nicest weather months of the year in LA

A couple of notes however:

1. The park will usually run shorter hours (DCA closing 6pm & DL @ 8pm)
2. There's usually no fireworks & MSEP on weeknights, but Fantasmic will be back by then
3. You might want to check the calendar for Gay Day (if that would bother you). It has been held in early October the last couple of years.
4. Both the Nemo Subs & Pirates Lair on TSI will be open
5. Check out the Mickey's Scary Halloween Party in DCA - We went the last two years and had a great time both nights.

October is usually quite nice. Lines for Haunted are of course ridiculous. Small World I think went down early for the Christmas makeover.

I was there for a weekend in late October. The weather was great and the crowds were good. The lines were pretty short except Splash Mountain was an 80 minute wait that day. However this was on a Saturday.

Thank you all so much! If anyone else has any more info from their experience I would appreciate it.

I was there the first week of October and it was BEAUTIFUL! Would I go again that time of year? YES 100% the weather was sunny and warm during the day with no possiblity of rain :-). You can wear shorts, capris, t shirts and tank tops with sandles and you could go swimming if you wanted. But in the morning its a bit nippy but warms up quickly, but come the evening you need to put on some pants and a jacket. One thing that I loved was the fact that it was really warm but it wasnt like HOT HOT STICKY summer heat. It was just perfect.

As for the rides most of them should be open. Its not like earlier in the year where a large majority seem to be closed. All attractions and shows (Fantasmic, Fireworks, Aladdin, Parade of Dreams, etc) seemed to be open except for the matterhorn and autopia, and the Electrical Parade. Granted watch the calender cause the fireworks and fanstamic is only on weekends during this time.

The lineups were fantasmic :D haha! Buzz 5 Minutes, Pirates 5-10 minutes, Space Mountain 10 Minutes, Splash 15 - 20 min, Haunted Mansion 20-25min due to the holiday overlay etc.

The only downfalls I found during this time was that the park does close a bit earlier then usual, like around 8pm, but that just give you time to wander DTD or kick around your hotel pool for awhile. Also like it was mentioned above, if you have problems as "Gay Days" is going on during that time, usually around the 7-9th then I would take that into consideration.

That's right, the park hours for us were 10am to 8pm (6pm DCA) - but it worked perfectly and we enjoyed the EE days and MTMM. We did the character meals (other than Minnie's) before we went to the park, also a nice time to do it with no pressure. We did Minnie's one day with reservations at 10:10am - now getting through those gates to get there with the lines was unreal and we were late (I hate being late), but they sat us no problem.

 We were there the first week of October. We were there during the week so we didn't see Fantasmic/Fireworks etc. But we still had a great time. All the Halloween decorations were up so that was fun to see. The lines were short....a lot of rides we just walked on and the weather was great. The hours are shorter but with 2 little ones we wouldn't stay much later anyway and with it being less crowded we still had time to do what we wanted to. The only major ride that was closed at DL was Matterhorn. We spent most of our 2 days at DL so I don't remember what was closed at DCA. We're going back the same time this year but we're making it 3 days this time so we can spend a little more time checking out DCA. Overall, I think it's a great time to visit!!

We honeymooned in DL three years ago during the first week of October. It was wonderful! :)

We were there in the beginning of Oct., these along with Autopia were closed. We were pretty bummed because my dd really wanted to drive.

This was taken October 15, 2006. These were before noon.

This was the thoroughfare in New Orleans Square where POTC empties out to and it was not crowded at all. This was a little after noon, taken from Club 33.

This was towards the Rivers of America. Not crowded at all.

These were taken late afternoon October 27, 2006. The crowds were moderate as was the weather. People were very laid back...

Some were worn out.

I hope this helps. I would definitely go in October. The ones taken on October 15, that was a Saturday and if I remember right, the crowds were light to moderate. The longest wait time I had was in the 20 minutes range and that was for Space Mountain.

We were there the 15th - 19th for our fall break from school. The weather was beautiful - crowds decent and decorations awesome!!! :cool1:

Matterhorn was down when we were there - pretty standard for October from what I gather. Like others mentioned the hours are not long - but the weather and crowds do not get super bad during the day (I would hop to DCA in the afternoon) - so you can stay from start to finish.

We will be back this year for fall break - the 7th - 11th - because we absolutely love October for DL!!!

Did a couple of you say that Splash Mountain was closed last October, I hope not!!!! It's my DD favorite ride ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were there on a weekday before the 12th last year, and it was great! HM was the longest line I remember seeing (and then DS freaked out when everyone screamed in the stretch room, and he and I had to exit after all that wait :( ).

The weather was fine; a bit humid, and it was hotter than the year before, when we went in late September, but I'm not sure that's always going to happen. :)

Lines were fine. Matterhorn was down for something, and I've NEVER been on Peter Pan or Mr Toad b/c they have been closed on our Fall-time trips, though I don't know WHY or how long they were closed.

Overall, we like going during that time. This year we're going mid-September, but that's only because we'll already be in CA for my HS reunion; otherwise we'd have done pre-Columbus day again, most likely.

It was up and running for us the 15th - 19th

I know others have mentioned Mr. Toad's and Peter Pan -my guess is those are hit or miss - both were up when we were there.

Also for HM - my advice is to not get on it when the line is long - :rotfl: that might sound strange - but I swear with that ride sometimes the line is super long, and other times (just randomly, seemingly for no reason) it is super short. If we happen to walk past and there is a very minimal wait - we go then - and vice versa if the line is super long.

Thank you Dizzyami! Wow, you go to California in 28 days? I am so JEALOUS! I don't know how we are going to wait until October, it seems so far away!
Thanks again!
