OK - who has heard of this and who has actually tried it. My MIL says that if I put duct tape on the wart on my son's foot it will eliminate the wart.

Truth?

BTW - snopes says there is A study that says it may work. What are your experiences?

I knew someone that had the planters wart on the bottom of their foot.....you have to make sure that no sun light can get into that area and keep the duct tape on for three days and then peel it off ...take a shower and clean off the bottom of the wart .....not like shaving but with a straight sided thing.....leave it to air dry for over night and then the duct tape again for three days......do the shave off bit again....within the two month period it was history

My daughter's Dr recommended it. I tired it and it worked! You do have to change the duct tape every other day and scrape the wart area with a wash cloth.

I have a friend who's DD had a terrible wart problem. They did EVERYTHING, freezing, acid, laser, everything. Nothing worked. Her DD then suggested Duct Tape as a last resort. It worked and she hasn't had one back since.

We tried to do that to a planter's wart on DS12's foot last year but the trick is to keep it covered all the time so no air can get to it and it just didn't stay on his foot well enough but it did help some.

DS's pediatrician recommended the duct tape as well. We left it on as long as could be (keeping air out of a plantar's wart is the important thing) and then washed really, really well and re-applied the duct tape. Within a month the wart was gone.

Cut a circle out of duct tape a bit larger than the wart and cover the wart. When he had gym we put a bandaid over the ducttape to make sure it stayed on. It worked like a charm.

And in the words of the pediatrician - you have nothing to lose. The other option is painful. Trust me, I had it done and I highly recommend trying the duct tape.

One of the book we are giving for Christmas is 100 uses for Duct tape. And it is in there!!

On the practical side, I have used duct tape to cover bandaids and other scratches when camping, it keeps the area clean!! especially if use use a cream or dressing!

It definately works!!! My daughter had a wart on the back of both of her heels and we tried it and WHAM the warts went away. It took a few weeks and you have to keep the duct tape tight to the wart!!! Great remedy for warts.:goodvibes

okay so if this is a plantar's wart...i have a weird recommendation.

i had one on the bottom of my foot and it was so painful! so, my best friend's dad who is a podiatrist recommended cutting a square of a banana peel, taping it to my foot, and wearing a sock to bed. i did this for a while and i swear it worked! he even looked at my foot before i tried this and said that it was a plantar's wart. i'm not sure what the banana does, but as goofy as this sounds...it worked!

We have been using the band-aids with the medicine in them for over a month now. These things are expensive. I had heard about using Duct Tape but was hesitant to try it. I think you all have convinced me. Wish me luck. I'm off to tape my child up.

DD had terrible plantar warts and we tried duct tape (as well as neat lavender and tea tree oil) and while they would sort of improve, they didn't go away. I finally took her to a podiatrist who gave me a script for a $15 applicator bottle of formaldehyde. Within 2 days she could walk without a limp and within a week, the warts were gone.

I had a wart burned off at age 6. I'm 43 & still have the scar. I would have certainly tried duct tape. Who knew?

We did a combination of the duct tape thing with my dd's wart. It was awful and on the ball of her foot. The podiatrist had us picked up an "acid" (kept behind the counter at the pharmacy) which we applied to the wart after a bath and good scrubbing with a wash cloth, then applied duct tape. We redid this every other night and finally the tape simply pulled the wart out. She has never had a problem since; she was in 1st grade at the time and is in 8th now. I say give the duct tape a try! :thumbsup2

DD's heel had two warts on it. We used regular old Compound W (actually the Walmart generic version) once per day and both warts were gone within 3 weeks. I don't know why anybody would mess around with duct tape when there are cheap remedies designed specifically for wart removal available. The bottle of stuff cost about $2.50, and you don't have to worry about whether it's "staying on" like you do with duct tape.

we had really good luck at the dermotologist. He put ONE drop of some strong solution on the wart and covered it with a band-aid. It fell off in a week. I don't know what the solution was but it was not sold over the counter.
He said he has heard duct tape works if the person is consistent.

3 out of my 4 girls had wart problems. I would take them to have them removed and they would come right back. I was told about duct tape, but with 3 of them, I would be scraping warts all day long, as appealing as that sounds. I was told it was caused by a virus in the body and 2 of my girls were prescribed tagament. I am not sure what was in the medicine, but all 3 girls are now wart free. I think she said the virus was contageous. Do you think any of my boys could sport a cool wart? Nope, only the girls.:confused3

I tried it and it did work. I think it is a combination of occlusion and a chemical that is in the duct tape adhesive that removes the wart.

DD has one on the side of her heel, and I can't get the duct tape to stick and stay on. Her wart is very tall, and I can't get a good seal with her foot. Any suggestions?

We used clear nail polish to "smother" the wart so no air could get in during the day, and then put duct tape on them overnight with a pair of socks to hold it in place. Worked like a charm.
