Warning! Timeshare "sharks" at Spanish Airports

I have posted in the Community forum, but if this is the wrong forum can the mods move it?

For those of you going to Spain this summer, there is a new Timeshare "scam" in operation.

I witnessed this at Malaga and since then other people have commented that its happening at Palma and Alicante.

there are some timeshare "salesmen/women" (the ones I saw were from from Club La Costa) approaching everyone in the departure queues offering free entance to win a hyoliday, juts give them your name and address, confirm you are a home owner etc etc.

This is at the boarding gate, not in the main concourse!
yes by the gate to board the aircraft.

At no point do they tell you its a timeshare promotion, the only way you can identify that it is, is by their airport identity cards they have to wear.

For a minute there I thought you were going to say people were arriving home to find they had been burgled. It's not a good idea to give your name and address out when you are miles away from home anyway.

"yes"
"congratulations! you have won a 3 day/5 day holiday to our resort, only £XXX for the air fare"

Take them up, 5 hours plus of trying to sell you a timeshare week at the resort you have "won" the holiday to.

If not, loads of advertising literature and phone calls to persuade you to buy their timesahare units.

Thanks ! Was slightly worried as did fill in survey coming back from menorca recently BUT it was by the shops in the departure area but nowhere near the gate. Fingers crossed, no phone calls yet
