Yesterday we arrived at Anaheim City Hall for our return COVID test. We paid ($199) for the NAAT test which is less intrusive and offers results in less than one hour garanteed. After 20 minutes we were checked in and tested. We were told it would take about 30 minutes to receive our results so decided to wait it out at the Starbucks accross the street. Thank goodness we did!!!
After 40 minutes we received our negative results. However, reading through the document we noticed that the test type was wrong.
It said we had received a Rapid ANTIGEN instead of the MOLECULAR. To board a flight, we must have a molecular test (NAAT, PCR...).
Staff was friendly, but it did take a while to fix (1h). Turns out the person entering the data put in the wrong code for the test. They were very apologetic. We explained that arriving at the airport with the document initially provided would have resulted in us not being able to go home and having to pay for another test. We were told they had new staff and that they were going to review procedures and training.
Moral of the story, read your test results carefully! A "small" data entry mistake like this can have huge consequences. If you are getting a test with quick turn around times, stay put. It is much easier to fix any problem on site than have to deal with a call center!
Safe travels everyone!
