We spent October 5th to 9th at DLR with ToT Party on the 8th. My entire family came down with some stomach flu/virus while we were there and after reading another review (TinkandPooh's) here on the site I noticed that others with the same travel date got the stomach flu as well. I'm starting to think there is a viral bug going around the parks.

Other then getting sick (thankfully for ds and I it was our last evening in the parks, but poor dh missed an entire day on Wednesday) we had a fabulous trip, however I just wanted to put the WARNING out there to anyone going soon that there is a possible stomach bug spreading around the parks, hopefully no one else has to experience it at the happiest place on earth.

The H1N1 virus is similar to the flu like with vomiting and diarrhea which is seems to be similar symptoms to stomach flu. Think you might have had the H1N1 virus instead with a high fever? Ekk!

Hope you all are feeling better-:goodvibes

That's terrible. I hope you were the last. I'm glad it didn't ruin too much of your trip.

Oh i'm so sorry to hear that Your family got sick. You should get a do over trip!

None of us had a high fever so I don't believe that it was the H1N1 virus. We all had vomiting and diarrhea for 24 to 48 hours :(

My thought exactly ;)

Yep, sounds like a norovirus. Thanks for the warning. A friend is there this week. Need to break out the hand sanitizers.

H1N1 symptoms are more classic influenza -- fever, chills, aches, sore throat cough and incredible fatigue, with a possibility of a bit of nausea in children.

I am sorry to hear that people got sick!!! Not fun on a trip at all!!! But this brings up a good H1N1 question.......would it be beneficial to have the H1N1 vaccine prior to a trip to Disney? How long does the vaccine have to be in your system before you have the immunity? I'm leaning toward getting my kids the vaccine when it becomes available but not 100% sure yet. I don't think that I will get one though......but also not 100% sure of that either!

Oh no that is no fun :( years ago one of my DDs got food poisoning while at DL, that was horrible; but your whole family ill! Yikes :scared1:
sounds like the doctor should prescribe a do-over! :wizard:
We just returned 10/6-10/11 thank goodness no one in our group got sick. :worship:

I know this is not a "Meet the Doctor Show", but we were there the 8th-11th adn the reason I wrote this hear is my daughter was sick. My 7 year old daughter on Friday was grumpy and out of sorts. She had a new pair of sneaks on and kept complaining about her feet hurting, her legs, etc... This is not like her-very much into Disney-non complainer, but us being stupid parents we chalked it up to the new shoes. Friday night I noticed she had a 102. temp. We gave her drugs-was better and slept. Got up 101. Gave her drugs-got better. Instead of the parks we went down to the beach and just hung out. You wouldn't know she was sick. No more drugs seemed great. Happy, no fever-nothing. We were staying a GCH so we just hopped over to the Disneyland for about a while. Got back check temp-nothing and she hadn't had any ibu for 18 hours. Thought we were golden. Slept an hour woke up and she threw up with a 102. Gave her drugs made some calls to Urgent care. She woke up perfectly fine-came home

Question-could she have had the flu. She was achy, sneezy, complained of her throat(she always has a little throat issue after a pool session), had a higher than hell fever and threw up. I know everyone is thinking we are awful parents, but she was never over the top awful and with Tylenol she was perfect-not tired-not cranky-very happy-very normal. Just all the things she had going on make me wonder if she was just more of a trooper and she was really really sick.

DD2 threw up Saturday morning w/fever at about 101.5-102. Saturday night she was feeling better, seemed to be back to her normal self. Sunday morning woke up lethargic and fever again. Took her to a CareToday center and she tested positive for the flu. She had a runny nose and cough along with it. Also complained her feet hurt.

CareToday prescribed her Tamiflu and also gave me, DH and DD7 Tamiflu to take. The 3 of us also got the flu shot. DD7 came down with it last night. So DD2 seems better today, DD7 still not good and I am feeling icky now.

It may not be just a Dl thing. My coworker had 3 of her 4 kids sick the week before and she was sick most of last week. There seem to be a few thing going around right now.

CrazyforDisney06 glad you made it home ok and sorry to hear that you too had a family that became ill.

As you mentioned I too was ill however I think I may have the H1N1 because I had sore throat, body aches, fever, cough, and vomitting and the other....yuck..........I went to my DR as soon as we got back and he told me that everone of his patients that has come in with the same symptoms that I had were testing positive for H1N1....so I will see soon but Im almost 99.9% sure that is what I had.......no fun and I can tell you that the day after DL and the night at MTOTP was my very worst and I felt like I was dying.....but I am happy to say that I am feeling much better now....thanks to massive amounts of rest and fluids.......

For both the season flu and H1N1 it takes about 10-14 days for the vaccine to "kick in".

I (an epidemiologist) plan on getting an H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available in my area, as does my preganat wife (a nurse) and our 2 year old(unemployed). From all the reading I've done, it seems to have the same side effects as the seasonal flu vaccine. That makes sese because they are made in the exact same manner. As with any medical procedure, there are possible risks associated, so it's up to you to make the informed decision to get it or not get it.

unemployed....:rotfl2:

Being sick is the pits! Sorry you had a round of that but good thing it was after your trip. Hope it's all cleared out of there by December.
It seems like there are quite a lot of people getting sick. It's scary.

We managed to bring home the flu from our trip to Disneyland in Sept. There was a VERY obviously sick little girl in line behind us for PFF, and four days later DD5 had the fever, runny nose, aches, cough, sore throat. Sucked, but at least she waited till our "travel home" day! I got sick a week later, and three weeks later now I'm still fighting the cough and occasional fever recurrence.

I think there are just SO many people that come through there are bound to be viruses everywhere. I hope everyone is feeling better soon!!

I think we need to make sure the little ones are not touching their faces and putting their hands in their mouths or noses (ewww) while at the park. My son constantly has his hands in his mouth so it will be a big challenge for us this week at the parks. They had their flu shots about 2 weeks ago so hopefully they will some protection from the regular flu. I am still debating on the H1N1 vaccinnes.

We were there last week as well and I came home with a sore throat, cough, body aches, headache, fatigue and upset stomach. No fever, throwing up or chills...Now I wonder what exactly it is that I have!? My kids so far seem to be ok!
