DH and I went to Typhoon Lagoon this morning. It was almost filled to capacity AND Castaway Creek (the lazy river) was closed in a huge section of the park, as well as one of the main walkways at the back of the park. It made the other attractions and walkways nearly impossible to maneuver. It was an absolute waste of time. We spent less than an hour and went home.

The "cave" area behind the wave pool that you can walk through and also the lazy river runs through it is closed due to "structural problems" that they are working on. The CM's I spoke with did not know how long it would take to resolve the problem.

If you wanted to get from one side of the park to the other and were in the rear of Typhoon Lagoon near the slides, you either had to climb and walk on all the upper walkways (there was a line to do this) to cross to the other side of the park, OR, go all the way around the front.

You could only ride Castaway Creek from the shark reef area to the kiddie area, but because half the creek was closed, it was wall to wall people, and people were "getting stuck" because there wasn't enough room for all the tubes.

Ugh! Try Blizzard Beach instead, but don't go tomorrow (Sunday) because we're going and we don't want to share! ;)

Thanks for the info. We were planning on going on the 15th and will go to BB if this is still the case then.

oh god, hope they get it all fixed soon, august is on its way and thats will be there busiest month, and im gonna be there in 2 weeks better get it fixed and sorted soon

thanks for the warning

We missed each other at TL again. :) They sure were crowded yesterday.

That's so funny we were both there AGAIN! :)
DH (Ted) actually said to me while at the park yesterday, "I wonder if Safetymom is here again." and I told him "No way, that was just a coincidence last time. I doubt she goes as much as us."

My husband wants to go on August 13. Does anyone know when all the closed parts will be open again?

Just back from TL. The CM we talked to as we were about to get in the water said the area was closed off where the "incident" was. Then corrected herself to say where they were doing landscaping. So I wonder what the problem was.

JustHolly, we have been going every week since we got our AP's.

Oh no.. we're planning to go sometime this week :sad2: Castaway Creek is my favourite thing to do!

We went to TL last week and by 10am every lounge chair was gone - occupied by either a person or a towel. By 11, there were so many people in the wave pool you couldn't help but to constantly crash into someone or have them crash into you.

I think we've finally vowed to never go to the water parks again. We can do that anywhere - and to fight that crowd - it was a waste of time - for us. There are better things to do - in our opinion.

I have to say that Blizzard Beach today was GREAT! We got there early and it really didn't get unbearably busy until around 1:00 which is when we hightailed it out of there. It really is a good alternative to Typhoon Lagoon. After today, I almost like it better!

Safetymom-that does sound suspicious. When I asked about it yesterday, one CM was a "little weird" but stated "structural problems." nosy me asked, "In the cave?" to which she nodded.

When I pressed for more information on how long it would be like that, she insisted that she didn't know, but when I asked specifically "what do you think about tomorrow?" she seemed pretty confident that it wouldn't be done by then, but quickly said, "They are over there fixing it right now."

We have plans to go on the 9th, we might try BB if there are still problems. HOpefully some kind DISers will keep us up to date!

JustHolly, I thought the landscaping excuse was rather lame. We all know they wouldn't decide to do landscaping just for the heck of it during a busy season. Wonder if we will find out what the incident was.

I wanted to go to Blizzard Beach but my daughter didn't.

Safetymom,

I have a question since you go to the water parks frequently. ;) We'll be in Disney from August 22-29, we have either August 24th (TH), 25th (F), or 28th (Mon) to go to the water parks. Which days would be best to do TL and BB (each on a separate day)? Thanks!

We went in May and the park was empty! There were maybe 20 of us in the wave pool. :cool1: I'd never go in the heat of the summer!!!

You're so lucky - heading out to BB and TL whenever you want. No fairzies!!!!!

LOL! Thanks for the heads up! We've learned that hanging out by our resort pool is more relaxing than one of the water parks, so we generally skip them. But I'm still trying to get the family to try Shark Reef! I really want to do that!

I get to go quite often and do find it relaxing at the water parks. Just be prepared for the cold water in the Shark reef.
