Just wondering if people are posting their 10% losses as 10% of the total they want to lose, or is it 10% of your body weight? Dumb question, I know.

Just curiou, because I want to lose 60 pounds. If I did that, then I would have 10 mini-goals of 6 pounds each, right??!!

If so, I reached one mini-goal already....Just want to know if I officially have reason to celebrate.

Starting weight x.1. For example, I started at 160, so 160x.1=16 pounds.

Keep the Faith!

That's indeed the way that researchers consider things: percentage of starting weight.

No question is dumb. Especially when asked here at WISH! That is exactly how Weight watchers figures the 10%. Just 10% of your starting weight. So if you weighed 200 pounds, you would need 20lbs to reach your first 10%.

Well. Okay. I didn't make my 10% goal. I guess I could make my own goals, right???

Yippee!!!! I made my first goal!!! Ten percent of my weight loss goal.

Good for you!!! Make your OWN goals and, by all means, celebrate them!!

:jumping1: Congratulations on losing 10%!!! :jumping1:

I LIKE your attitude!! :sunny: ::yes::

one thing has mi puzzled... if my first goal is 19 pounds (10%), then the rest of my goals must be 19 pounds, or 10% of what I weight after reaching my goal??

My question exactly. I guess we can set out own 10% goals. I was originally going to set my goals at 10% of the total I want to lose. That way the amount that is 10% never changes. I will just have 10 mini goals. Otherwise, you are right, you will have to keep recalculating based on your current weight. Doesn't make much sense. What is the point of that?

The way I have been doing it is 10% of my beginning weight. Then 10% of my weight after I made that goal etc..
So if you started at 200, your 10% would be 20 lbs
Your next 10% would be 18 lbs since your weight would now be at 180.
That way your goals get smaller as you do. :)

Interesting question. I suppose for mathematical purity, you could set goals at

First 10% = -19 pounds
Second 10% = -17 more pounds
Third 10% = -15 more pounds
Fourth 10% = -13 more pounds (assuming your goal is that low).

That would tend to build in the aspect that folks tend to lose weight slower as they get fitter.

Thanks for the help!!!

I'm going to copy the goals Bicker posted, you're already helping a lot!! :)

A1A1: it makes sense, you lose weight slower after some months, if you reduce your goals it's easier not to get disappointed later. :)
