As for the transportation issue, I've always noticed cars being stopped for speeding along the road that goes to the AKL. I know to drive the speed limit there because chances are, there is a squad car along the way. I can't say I've noticed any on the road that leads to the MK.

No worries, David...and you're totally fine to come on and make a point...it was just hard to read. (and it wasn't just you; I have never seen the '...' used so much in one place in my life... and I like to use it!) My point is really that posts come across so much easier and people are maybe going to actually read the content if they are punctuated well and not in super need of spell check; something that seems to be declining in this digital age.

Between you and me, did your speedometer show you really over the speed limit even by a tad?

Actually I consider it oppressive to ticket offenders going just a tad over the limit, except for repeat offenders.

Coming west (southwest) on I-4, the Epcot exit (536) is the best choice for the Magic Kingdom area also. After going under the welcoming arches and skipping the first exit ramp, get into the left lane regardless of your speed, since the way to MK is a skinny bear left. You can also go this way for the Animal Kingdom area which skips two lights on Osceola.

The way I learned it is that if you snip at the end of a sentence, include the period, add a space, then add the ellipses (always exactly three dots), but including spaces within the ellipses was not mentioned.

If you snip in the middle of a word, put an ellipses directly before (or after) the word fragment at the break point. If you snip out complete words, use a space to separate the ellipses from the next (or previous as applicable) word at the break point.

Like other posters said they stay in one place for an hour then move it sems at every speed check their 4-5 police cars. So that mean theyare the same team at each check piont so they spend their day going around disney to check people speed. With all the money disney gives them means the tickets they wright are extra money. Rcid just there to handle fire and medical calls so the orange county sheriffs are the only police in that area. It only them and fhp that patrol in their fhp handle car crashes and the sheriffs office handle all other calls. I know no one like to get ticket but i think i rather get a ticket and slow down instead of crashing my car and being killed so they are out there for a reason. Not just to ruin your day and they do understand that your on vacation so that why they will give warings. The morle of this post is not bad grammer but to stay safe and to watch out for the police.

It is very plausible that Disney did ask for the police to monitor this area. That would certaintly explain why there are so many warnings. In all likelihood, Disney is just trying to make a point, not ruin everyone's vacation with a ticket. Perhaps one of those signs that tells you how fast you are going might be more cost efficient though. I'm all for enforcing the speed limit in the interest of safety, but where I live it is nothing more than for revenue generating. I also feel that any money brought in from speeding tickets should go right back into road improvements and making the roads safer.

I read somewhere that Disney just didn't want to get into the police business, so they turned over protection and road enforcement to Orange and Osceola County.

However, fire and EMT service is Reedy Creek and those folks are Disney CMs.

I was stopped..in traffic.........
going about 2 miles over the limit.
this is not a safety issue..
this is....a speed trap issue....
and..they ARE giving tickets to....out of towners...just not the locals.

2 miles over the speed limit is consider speeding which you can get a ticket for glad you didn't get one. Sorry you feel people are picking on you I admitted to my spelling and grammar mistakes I not picking on you and not getting anyone else to. In fact we have talked to some Cast Members who work at the Contemporary and said they have been pulled over by going 4 or 5 miles over the speed limit, so it's not just those with licenes plates from other states or those driving down from Canada who get tickets.

Well if the Cast Members I mentioned are getting tickets they are obviously locals, so it's not just out of towners and they are not getting warnings.

I have a pretty good idea. There are a lot of speeders at WDW including out-of-towner and locals. A radar gun doesn't distinguish between locals and out-of-towners. I went to the Polynesian yesterday and on the stretch of road between the ticket booth and the redlight and the left turn to the Poly, I think there were three who passed me. I was probably driving 30 - 40 mph. They were obviously going faster.

Now if you do get a ticket you can go to court and go up in front of a judge. However it is hard to fight a radar gun which is used almost explicitly in these days to determine speeders.

A lot of times an attitude determines whether you get a ticket or warning.

I'm not sure that it matters, but here, private roads aren't policed by the public police force. I think if the police are there, it would be at the request of Disney?

Police are allowed to enforce laws on any roadway that the general public has access to. The same stands for parking lots at stores. It is considered private property but the public has access to it. Police can go in and write handicapped parking, and fire zone tickets ect.. They can write moving violations in there as well.

In general a speeding ticket should not be issued for no less than 5 mph over the posted speed limit. Police are only trained to estimate speeds to be with in 5 mph of the actual speed. When a cop writes a speeding ticket he has to observe the vehicle traveling, he is supposed to then estimate the speed of the vehicle, then use the radar gun to confirm the actual speed of the vehicle and back up what he estimated. One or two mph over the limit is crazy to write. Any radar gun could be off by 1 or 2 mph. Here in NY the judge would throw it out. You have to go for at least 10 mph over or even 15.

I was stopped for speeding by an Orange County sheriff at the MK/TTC parking lot just before entering the CM parking lot. Why was he there? Just got a warning though.
