I had 2 Avent nipples just come apart in two. One was used for a few months so I thought it was just wear. I purchased a new one in the next size and 2 weeks later the same thing happened. The nipples were washed with a soft sponge and there were no teeth marks or chewing on them. I sent it to Avent and their conclusion is a sharp object caused it. No way becasue I would know if I had stuck a knife in the nipple. So be very careful because this thing came apart in two and if the baby had it in his mouth he could have choked. Thank goodness my son likes the sippy cup becasue I can;t trust a nipple after this and Avent's response was no responsibility at all.

Oh my goodness! How scary! I wonder if there was a bad or defective bunch. :confused3 I used avent nipples for all three of my kids and never had a problem and they even held up through my DS who chewed through every kind of pacifier I tried! I wonder if they are made different now?

I'm surprised that the company wouldn't take more interest in it though. I mean, if someone choked on one and they had prior notice that there was a potential problem... :guilty:

Glad to hear you caught the problem in time!
