Warning about Amazon GC from MyPoints - NOT giftable!

I know a lot of people here use MyPoints, so I just wanted to put out a little warning about their Amazon.com GC's. I ordered one a couple months ago, thinking I'd give it as a birthday gift to a friend. Well, good thing I found something else for her because what MyPoints sent to me is not giftable at all. All MyPoints sent me was a letter that said, "Dear Ava, thank you for using MyPoints! Here is your Amazon.com Gift Certificate Claim Code..." and then it had the code just printed on the letter.

So just a warning to all you MyPoints users - don't order the Amazon GCs for gifts!

You could always make up a different letter/email for her, or put it into a card, with the exact code. Then give it to her.

Thanks for the information. I usually use my points for restaurant GCs, but I was thinking about Amazon for my son at Christmas.

That's a good idea, I didn't even think of that. I was expecting to get a card (I got an Amazon GC for Christmas that was a paper card with the code printed on it) so when I got that letter I was really annoyed.

I actually knew that, I'd redeemed for one previously. I just used the code and had a gift sent from Amazon to my Mom instead. Worked out better that way, in that case anyway.

Long experience working CS for amazon some years back, before the actual cards that I've seen recently existed, when people wanted to get the emailed GCs but then gift them!

Just make sure to get that code *exactly*, and just in case, hang onto the letter if a letter gets mixed up when transcribing and she needs backup.
