Warm enough to swim in February?

We're coming from the northeast (DC) in February. I know the Disney resorts have heated pools, but I'm still getting my head around being able to swim outside that time of year. Is it comfortable? This will be our first trip to Orlando.

We are from Canada and we had a wonderful time swimming in early February 2017. It will depend on your actual weather but ours was warm and the pools were fantastic!

I went Feb 2017 and it was absolutely warm enough to swim! Some nights coming back from MK were a little cold on the boat though.
I did hear on the boat ride people commenting how they have been at WDW in Jan-Feb and had to go to the store to buy extra warm coats etc when the weather became colder than they had packed for.
So I would just pay attention to weather apps online when your trip becomes closer.

Have fun & definitely pack the bathing suits! :beach:

From Dec-Feb it can vary so greatly that you won't know until your trip is about to be there. It can be in the 30-40 degree range or it can be in the 80's.

I'd count on it being warm enough but you'll have to check the temps about a week out

The pool will be warm enough, but you want to be sure the air temperature is warm enough. I was at Pop during the really cold temps in January this year, and people were swimming every day that the pool was open (it was closed on the day with the coldest temps). But they were staying low in the water to keep warm and really wrapping up in robes and towels as soon as they got out.

Earlier in February can be much more questionable than mid to late February. We’ve been there multiple times the last week of January until the first few days of February and experienced all ranges of weather. We were usually able to find one or two pool days in each trip. But we’re from Minnesota, so any weather in Florida is better than home that time of year! :sunny:

Bottom line-you won't know until VERY close to your trip.:)

It may be so hot that the Pools are packed and Guests are sunbathing by the Pool OR you may see this(the "inclement weather" was for cold temps):

Not sure if this is still the case but they had lifeguards even during colder weather in our past stays. One year, we stayed at WL the end of January and had cool weather the whole trip. The forecast during our entire stay was in the 50’s and 60’s. Our 7 & 9 year olds were so desperate to swim, we let them swim for a bit when it was 59 (no judgement please!). They had a blast for a solid 20 minutes while DH and enjoyed an adult beverage by the pool!

I went in early February 2000. I went for a quick swim in the pool, which was fine, but it was too cold to go to a water park for the day, much to my disappointment. I think it was in the 60s during the trip.

Yes,IF the Pools are open( at a certain "cold level" they will not open the Pools and also, the Pools hours can be shortened on "cold days"),there will be Lifeguards.

Disney no longer leaves the Pools open AT ANY TIME without Lifeguards(the WDW Pools are now "fenced and gated").

Absolutely no way to know. We went in December and were wearing shorts and t-shirts the entire time and the pool felt refreshingly good compared to the hot temps. But I know the week prior to our trip, it was cold at Disney.

I went in January once and one day would be shorts weather and Splash Mountain felt good, the next day I had to wear a sweatshirt and jeans.

You'll know about 10 days or less prior to your trip what the weather has in store for you.

Temps in February are usually on a 5 day cycle. Front comes through- cool day or two (low 60s), then a couple nice days (around 70), then a warm and humid cloudy day (around 80).

It only gets "cold" once or twice a winter. This year was a really cold winter.

I have been a few times in February and saw kids in the pools every day. Odds are, you will get at least a few good pool days.

We were very surprised the pool was opened with this temp. Not sure how cold it has to get for them to close the pools but 59 had to been close to that threshold!

I agree it will be wildly variable. I was in Florida for 2 weeks at the end of Feb this year, and I think it was in the 80's every day with almost no rain. That was unusual, however.

My son and I have been swimming at WDW resorts when it's been in the 40s.

It was warm enough for most of this past February because the weather was very warm. But normally you have to keep an eye on the weather pattern.

Things have changed over the last 8 years, but now they close pools as it hits the low 40s.

At almost 60 there’s little issue with swimming. The pools are in the 80s, so it feels awesome.

Getting out is different, but 59 is hardly freezing. :)

We've been in the winter a couple times and always swim. One January it was quite cold, lows in the 30s highs in the 40s a couple days, and the pools were still open during the day. When the sun went down, they closed. We still got in, and the water was ok, but if you put your head under than your head was cold the rest of the time. That and the walk from the pool to the room was bone chilling.
