At long last, our long-awaited summer trip to Disneyland Paris was here! :rockband:

We had decided to spend a couple of nights in London beforehand and travelled up on Monday. We had reserved our seats as the train we catch is usually very busy with standing room only and when we found they had been doublebooked we were told to sit in a first class carriage. Woo hoo, what a great start! :teeth:

After booking into our hotel in Victoria we took a cab to Tower Bridge and did the “Tower Bridge Exhibition” which involves walking across the top of the bridge and visiting the engine rooms. This was very interesting with fantastic views. We then walked back to our hotel stopping at a Pizza Express on the way.

The next day we had planned to visit London Zoo. We walked as far as Marble Arch before hailing a cab and then spent a lovely day at the zoo. Food prices here were exorbitant and proved that where theme parks are concerned counter service at DLRP is very good value for money! After spending a lovely day here we took a cab as far as Piccadilly Circus then walked home stopping off at McDonalds en route.

Wednesday August 16th
After an early night we awoke really excited because today was the day we were off to DLRP! :Pinkbounc We had a light breakfast at the hotel then left by 8am to hail a cab on the way to Waterloo. Once we were through Eurostar check-in we relaxed in the departure area and to our delight there was a trio playing!

As always our journey was very relaxing. We had ordered the vegetarian breakfasts this time and they were delicious. Before we knew it we had arrived! :bounce: We caught the #54 pink bus to the Explorers and checked in. The receptionist couldn’t believe that we were staying 8 nights and kept saying over and over again are you sure this isn’t a mistake! :rotfl: Luckily our room was ready so there was no hanging around. It had a lovely view over the lake at the rear of the offsite hotels.

We quickly unpacked and decided to walk into the parks, partly because there was no sign of a bus and partly because we felt like the exercise after being cooped up in a train all morning. The weather had been a bit overcast when we first arrived but was starting to brighten up as we neared the parks. :sunny:

We arrived and I don’t think I will ever get used to that buzz of excitement when you go through the ticket booths and realise you are “home” again. :cloud9: We headed straight to Big Thunder Mountain as we knew it was closing during our stay (stopping to say hello to Chip and Dale along the way) but it was broken down so we headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean ~ it was busy, this was the first time we have ever had to queue through the dungeons but before we knew it we were on the ride and it was great to see the swinging pirate for the first time! Coming out we could see Jack Sparrow but by the time we got over to him he had disappeared and we never saw him again in 9 days (not for want of trying!) :sad2:

We headed over to ride it’s a small world and then wandered through the shops to kill time before our reservation at Walt’s. After lots of begging and pleading we were given a window table in Frontierland. Danielle and Francesca had cheeseburger and chips/beefburger and chips and a Mickey gourmet puzzle dessert.

Samantha had fettuccini "Alfredo" and apple and apricot crumble with honey nougat ice cream from the teenager menu.

For some reason :confused3 I forgot to photograph the crumble.

Bryan had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken followed by the gourmet burger and a Cinderella’s slipper for dessert.

I had the tomato tartar with basil and mozzarella and grilled bread rubbed with tomato followed by creamy risotto with scallops and green asparagus tips with a seafood coulis and a Cinderella’s slipper which I swopped with Samantha’s dessert because I can’t eat too much chocolate in case it brings on a migraine. She wasn’t complaining and loved the slipper!

The food was absolutely delicious and we were served by a lovely CM. The icing on the cake was when the parade went past, we had a lovely view and the characters all waved in to the windows as they went past on their floats. :wizard: :wizard: This is the first time I have been to Walt’s and I loved it. It is very elegant but the atmosphere is not at all intimidating or stuffy. I will definitely eat here again.

After waddling from here we went over to Buzz. It was a 40 minute wait but we decided to do it. Great fun ~ we all loved it. Then over to our beloved BTM which is now up and running again ~ another 40 minute wait ~ you can tell we are all caught up in the excitement of it being our first night as normally we would never wait more than 20 minutes for any ride! Then just time to do Phantom Manor ~ a walk-on ~ and we walked down Liberty Arcade and caught Fantillusion just as it was going past City Hall. We decided to stay to watch Wishes so walked up to Central Plaza to watch it. It was lovely ~ even lovelier than last year. pixiedust:

Then we walked home via Disney Village and beat the buses! Yay! :yay:

Great start! :thumbsup2 Love the food pics. I've always wanted to try Cinderella's Slipper but haven't managed it yet! :sad2:

Elaine, wondeful photos... :) the ones of the girls and specially the food...!! I was wondering, is it possible to book a table in Frotnierland in order to view the parade ? Having never been to DLP I don't know too much. :confused3 Did you have an early dinner ? If so, at what time did you book in order to have a great service and view the parade ?

Martina, the parade was at 7.15pm so we made reservations for 6.15pm. When we arrived we asked if it was possible for a window view and said we didn't mind how long we waited provided we would be seated in time to watch the parade ~ we were seated in less than 5 minutes! :wizard: We didn't specifically ask for Frontierland ~ it was just a bonus that we were given our favourite land! I had a quick peek in the other "lands" and they are all equally lovely. Marcus has posted some great photos on the Walt's thread in the Restaurant FAQ. :)

Great start :goodvibes
The photo of the girls and chip and dale are exactly what holidays are all about :)

sounds like a good first day. :thumbsup2

We love walts, lovely pictures.

These are great photos. It will be interested to see your point of view of the atmosphere as we were there at the same time.
