OK - My wife and I want to buy in to DVC, but don't know which resort. So, we're planning to make a trip down to check them all out. It would be nice to see them all in one day, but that'll take some planning . . . so . . . :confused3

1. Is there an easy way to get from one to another using Disney transportation, or, will I have to catch a bus from a resort back to a switch-point, then catch another bus to the next resort?

2. If I drive from one to another, will the gate give me any difficulty getting in to the parking lot?

3. Do you think the front desk will let us 'see' a room, or will we just have to checkout the resort as a whole, and go with online pictures to judge the rooms.

You can certainly visit the DVC resorts to get a feel for each one. Disney transportation can be used, but will require changes at a Theme Park or DD since there are no resort-to-resort options. You can ask at the front desk if a villa would be available to visit. If they have any available and clean they are usually happy to allow a peek. At BWV you can view a model room - ask at the BW office. If you drive yourself and are staying at another WDW resort you will have a parking pass that will help with explaining your visit.

Be aware that some resorts, depending on when you visit, may not have any vacant rooms to see.

The tour at SSR will give you a good idea about room sizes - since all of the onsite rooms - except OKW - are similar in size. The decor does vary at each resort. The SSR tour also offers a virtual tour of all the resorts.

Good luck with your decision! :)

If your budget permits, might I suggest you rent a room in one of the resorts from a member. That might give you a true feel for being at DVC. Before we purchased, we rented a few times to decide if we liked it.

Touring is nice, but IMHO it doesn't compare to actually staying and getting a feel for a place.

Good luck!

Getting to the resorts should be part of the fun....
BWV and BCV - I would plan on a trip there from Epcot. Walk right out the resort exit between the UK and France..BWV has a model set up next to the general store. Not sure if BCV has any models still open.
VWL - plan a trip here from MK. Hop on the VWL boat and stop in.
These 3 resorts can be tied into a trip to the parks.
SSR could be tied in with a trip to donwtown disney/Pleasure island.
OKW - bus
Good Luck

Just to be clear, you say you want to buy at DVC but don't know which resort - you buy your DVC ownership in whatever the newest resort is (currently SSR), and then use your points to stay at whichever resort you like. You can take the DVC tour, which is at SSR, but you can tour around to each resort during your stay. I agree with the previous poster about renting points - staying at any of them will definitely seal the deal for you! We're sorry we didn't join sooner, but we've never regretted joining for a moment!

Sorry but this is incorrect. You can buy into ANY DVC - but you may have to waitlist if buying thru Disney. Also incentives only apply to the newest resort. Of course via resale you have your choice of resorts

.

Disney does sell ALL DVC resorts , SSR you can get right away and the others you might have to wait for 1 day to several months . You could also purchase on the resale market and buy the contract thats best for you. I didn't want the OP to think only SSR is available ,especially if thats not where they like best after touring all of them. Good luck and have fun checking out the resorts:-)
