We are considering booking a VIP tour for October 13th, but man it's $$$$ (edited: We went ahead and booked it, but let me know IF you're interested). My thought is to divide it up with another family/group. We pay for three hours and you pay for three hours. Each group will then be "in charge" of their three hours. We have 7 in our group so we can only have a group with three people or less. If you're interested, we can decide if we want to allow each other's groups to stay together during all 6 hrs. (benefiting on whoever's turn it is to be in charge, but not making any decisions. Hope that makes sense?) or separating when it's not our turn. Send me a PM if interested.

I think this is a great idea. I was thinking the same thing for our trip on 12/15-12/19 for our family of 4. Hope you find someone.

The relative cost per person would be really high for the 3 people joining your tour.
Wouldn't be better better to split the costs 70/30?

Good luck! Maybe we will see you around! We have a tour on the 13th also. Remember if you are doing the premium tour, you get one car valeted at the Grand.

Seriously? Why would I pay the three hours for 3 people while you pay the same amount for 7?

wow I hope thats not what they meant....I think the way it should be is..you should divide the cost by how many people in the tour total so that way no one is paying more than the other...the actual idea behind it is pretty awesome...we should definitely consider a thread for people who want to get together and pitch in for any of the tours...:thumbsup2

I was thinking half the time because it's per hour, not per person when you pay for the tour. If we decide to split $$ per person then we'll split the time that way too. Each person would get 36 minutes if we do it like that. Or if you think about it as a group, then our group will have 252 minutes and the group of three will have 108 minutes. If the group of three would just like to divide the time up then we'll do three hours and the other group will get three hours.

Here is something to think about... Whom ever puts the credit card down to pay for the tour, is going to be charged for the time used. Not necessarily 6 hours. 6 hours is a minimum. It is SO easy to go over. If you are still in line for Racers at the time your 6 hours is up, you are going to get billed for an additional hour. It doesn't matter that the other person was using the time, your credit card will be billed. What about the tip? How will that be divided? What about reservations for Fantasmic! and WoC, meals?

I actually think sharing a premium VIP tour is a great idea and could be really valuable for all involved, but I do agree that the 7/3 split is probably going to be a super-tough sell. It's really hard for seven people NOT to dominate, simply by sheer numbers, no matter how hard you try to make things "even." (And, as far as I know, though I'm far from an expert, Disney doesn't want people to, and might even disallow, actual splitting of the tours. Meaning: this group comes for this time and this group comes for another. That, to me, would be trying to get around the minimum time rules.) Just seems like a recipe for regret and recriminations, especially when you're talking about so much money.

I think it would work best for people who already know each other and are more evenly divided, number-wise, with similar age ranges and interests/goals. It would take a huge amount of trust to do this with strangers. I just don't know if I could take that leap ... But maybe I'm simply too cynical.

If anyone is actually interested in doing this, please feel free to send me a PM. We can discuss details if you are.

On the comment of seven people dominating, if it's the other groups turn to decide, then it's their turn...end of story.

A little off-topic, but can someone please send me a link where I can read about what a VIP tour is all about, as well as costs associated? Thanks!

If I were doing something like this, I would go as one big happy group and split the cost per person. Just seems SO much more simple than doing it per hour.

And, in fact, if you were doing it a week before, my family of 3 would have indeed considered it, BUT only if it were per person, and if we were ALL going for the ENTIRE tour.

Malcolm has some great points. I've been burned by a DIS member at WDW on a sharing a boat. Plus, I have to agree with others and Bumbershoot that this would have to be per person to even consider.

I actually agree with the OP. The cost should be split per hour "in charge". Disney would charge 1 guest on the VIP tour the same as a group of 10. Although the tip from the larger group should probably be higher.

My opinion, if anyone cares, is that the OP was asking if anyone was interested in sharing the tour.....OP wasn't asking for our opinion on how it should be handled. That should really be up to the 2 groups involved.

I'm not trying to be snotty...just saying that they weren't asking for thoughts on how it should ne handled.

Thank you kkendle! You're exactly right. Although, I knew by posting that people would share their opinion, my purpose was really just to see if anyone wants to actually do it. I'm more than willing to discuss options with any willing party. We're doing it regardless and already gave our credit card # to Disney.

I wouldn't mind paying per person if we ALL went the whole six hours, but the time of being IN CHARGE of what's happening would then definitely be split per person (group) also.

Remember to discuss with your partner group ahead of time ideas such as what entertainment you might want, parades, dining options, do you want to do Jedis? Princess Fantasy Fair? We loved doing "Dancing with Disney" with our guide. My cousins took their little boy in there while we rode ToT, but when we joined them with our guide, and the guide started dancing with my 2yo cousin, we suddenly had all the characters coming to dance with him. He LOVED it. It was such a riot. Drizella kissed a piece of the confetti and put the lip print on his cheek. What are your goals for the day?

What will happen if you go past the 6 hours? Who is going to get to valet the car? Do you want to ride the Lilly Belle?
