Want to rent at 11 month window, am I just dreaming?!

We are hooked on renting DVC..........I know, I know, but we probably won't buy in.........

We rented in May at SSR, several weeks before our trip.

We are going in Sept/Oct 2008, with extended family, and want a 2 bedroom at VWL for at least a week.

Is it reasonable to expect that I will find a VWL owner willing to rent at the 11month window? I am nervous about chancing VWL at the 7 month window.

Any advice?

It should be much easier to rent at 11 months than a couple of weeks ahead of your trip, so I'd say yes, you should be fine.

The only issue I see is the "...with extended family" part. We often see the horrified threads here about people whose extended family cancel at the last minute. DVC is NOTHING like a hotel ressie, and if anyone's plans change for any reason, you are going to be in deep difficulty. The owner you rent from may have zero ability to help you if your plans change.

Of course, you won't know until you try. I certainly think your chances are a lot better at the 11 motnh window than waiting for the 7 month window for a 2 bedroom unit at VWL any time of year.

Yes, we're leaving that part of the family at home! The family that is invited are my parents, they are in Orlando right now. They would never back out on us, and we'll get travel insurance just in case someone is ill, in an accident, etc. And, if the worst does happen, we'll spread out in the 2 bedroom!
