Want to keep food budget to $30/day for two adults for next trip...can we do it?

You can always call dining the night before or even that morning to see if you can get a PS so you can wait and see what you are hungry for. Only a few times in the summer have I had trouble getting a last minute PS and I don't think I have ever had trouble getting one for 2-3pm. You have trails end on your list and the lunch buffet stops somewhere around 2-2:30. The restaurants at AK also close earlier than you would imagine. I unfortunatly learned these from experience.

I just went over my receipts from last summer (we leave in a week :Pinkbounc ) and even though we ate very well last trip we still only spent around $500 for three people(1 adult two kids) for 11 days. That included two character meals, Boma, Le Cellier, Ohana, 50's Prime Time. It is so hot in the summer that we seem to snack a lot and eat one big meal. You'll do fine on your budget. Have a wonderful trip!

If you don't mind counter service, you could eat on one voucher. We found the portions to be huge and plenty for both of us to split, especially with it being so hot, we weren't starved. We took apples for a snack and weren't really interested in food carts. We also had a water bottle we'd refill w/ water & ice when we ate. Worked great.

That was what we did for lunch - our sit down dinner was usually just that.

For a "special" lunch, get the $31 VKL and eat at Rainforest! We had $75 worth of food there for the voucher. THey bend over backwards to help you get the most for your money. We had a drink in a souvenior cup, wings for app, split the primal steak and added TWO sides of coconut shrimp (sooo goood) and then had key lime pie that we could not even eat so we got it to go!

Some of our cheaper eats no one has mentioned.

Wolfgang Puck Express
Rainforest huge meal size appetizers, sandwiches and meals are all so big to split around stuff
Food courts at all star resorts, Riverside , Carribean
Earl of Sandwich

We usually do bigger later lunches at nice restaurants for less money

Since you will only be eating one meal, I think you can definitely do it. We almost can do 2 meals a day for 2 adults at $30. The thing that gets us is the extras likes cokes & snacks because we don't bring any snacks or drinks in the parks.

The poster who suggested skimping slightly before the trip to allow extra $$ on vacation had the best idea. Who wants to count pennies on vacation? And maybe Im just a greedy little piggy, but I can hardly walk by the Main Street bakery in the AM, smelling all that deliciousness, and not grab a cookie or muffin to walk with. oink, oink:crazy:

You would have to spend $ on the food you would be bringing from home, correct? If you did not have a fridge your choices would be limited (even if you have a cooler). How about doing what an earlier poster suggested-eat your sandwiches at home & put the extra towards counter service in the parks for lunch and dinner? You can get the Q&C vouchers for 11.50 each, and use them at various places that give big portions and good selections. If you shared one voucher for lunch and one for dinner, you would only be spending 23. for two meals, which would eliminate the need for bringing lunch food with you. If you do bring food, here's a yummy suggestion-tuna mixed with italian dressing instead of mayo. Less fat and tastes great! Whatever you choose to do, have an amazing trip!

You can definitely do it and use your PAP's at all the EPCOT eateries for your big lunch using them for the 10% discount!

My DH, DD and I ate at Coral Reef and our bill plus tip that day with our AP discount was only $41. Plus we all had sodas and the childs meal at 7.99!

It can be done and you can eat well too!

I don't know if has been mentioned yet but if you will be in the downtown disney area you should try the new Earl of Sandwich! I haven't yet but hear they are very good and a reasonable price!

It is $4.95 for a hot sandwich and you could split a salad too. ($5.95) So with drinks you would spend about $20 leaving room for a mickey bar later. Another thing to think of is kids meals at the counter places or at hotel food courts. Those chicken strips are not bad and alot of places will have a kids meal including drink for about $4.00.

The trails end lunch was very good we just did that for the 1st time in Jan. and we will be back. Since your not doing a commando trip it is also a very relaxing place to try!
