I finally saw my resale contract on my existing membership last night, but the points have not been loaded yet. So, now I'm in a sort of limbo until Monday or Tuesday (surely!) when my points get loaded. The wait is killing me since I need to book rooms for a big family vacation this June. Yep -- that's not a typo, I need rooms for 3 months from now. I've asked about different availability a few times when I've called MS, but I've only had one person that's been very helpful. For the most part, if they don't see the points in the account, they seem reluctant to do much. I've been told that there's plenty of availability at SSR, but I don't know much past that.

So, if anyone's still reading this, here's the situation: We will have 2 family units with 4 each, 1 family unit with 5, and 1 family unit with 1, for a total of 14 people. I have 518 points available for use, plus I could "rent" the 24 from Disney or try and find someone to transfer additional points to me. Here's what I see my options could be:

1) BCV - 4 studios, 536 pts (availability unlikely)
2) BWV - 4 PV studios, 528 pts (availability unlikely)
3) AKV - 2 SV studios, 2 stnd view studios - 510 pts
4) VWL - 4 studios - 508 pts (availability unlikely)
5) OKW - 2 bdrm, 2 studios - 512 pts
6) OKW - 4 studios - 423 pts
7) SSR - 4 studios - 460 pts

What do you think the best option might be? Or are there others that the availability will be unlikely? I'm a little torn between options 3 & 5. I think the group would really like AKV, but having the 2 bdrm would be really nice for the kitchen and w/d. What are your opinions? (And thanks for helping me pass the time until I can FINALLY get this booked!)

If it was me, I would choose option 5. I am not sure how long you are staying, but the W/D in the room and the full kitchen are conveniences I "need" on trips longer than 4 days. Plus, it gives you a living room area for everyone to get together in since you have separate rooms.

We are going in June as well to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation. Nine of us in a two bedroom and studio.

I would choose option 5 as well. Plenty of room for everyone and you'll have the W/D and kitchen.

I also agree. Plus, it will be easier to get 2 units at the same resort than it will be to get 4 (since you are booking 3 months prior).

And it will be easier for the room assigners to get 2 units close to each other than it will be to get 4 units close to each other.

just take over a whole wing at OKW!!! You'll have your own "area" and will indeed have washer/dryer and a full kitchen.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like the OKW 2-bdrm/studio combo is a clear leader. Can't wait for tomorrow so I can try to get this nailed down!!

Option #5 for me as well, but I LOVE OKW! Make sure when you call that you tell MS to note on the reservation that you want rooms close, if possible, and if not, then at least in the same building.

We have traveled with my BIL and SIL and their kids (they are DVC members as well) and have had HORRIBLE luck getting rooms in the same building, even though BOTH of us put the request on our reservation and made them MONTHS in advance! Whoever checks in first at OKW needs to make sure the rooms are close or in the same building. That way, if they are not, they may be able to accommodate it prior to check-in. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can't.

Well, there were no studios available for the full time we'll be there at OKW, but I was able to snag 1 SV and 3 standard view studios at AKV! We're waitlisted for 1 of the standard views to upgrade to a SV. All but the last night was available, and I really think I might call back and get the SV for the first 6 nights, the standard view for the last night, and then put the wl on just that last night. I would hate for the other nights to start becoming unavailable and it be harder to get that room. I'm just super excited to have the reservation made! And AKV was my SIL & sisters first choice, so I think it will work out great!
