I think if he's a responsible, good kid and polite, it would be great for him!:thumbsup2

Yes, he is... He is also smart, He has a 4.02 GPA, 6th in his class of over 500 and is captain of his football team.... He also wants to be a lawyer...... He can sweet talk almost anyone.... I think he will like working these events.. He can sleep in and still be home in time to go out at night with his friends.... Plus he needs the money... It will help me out.... I have 3 other kids that need money all the time....
thanks,
Wendy

Excellent! Sign him up!! :yay: Sounds like a great kid and who doesn't like that kind of money! If we like it, you KNOW a 17 year old will like it!! Especially the time issue, since he's so busy during the week, that would be perfect!
Good luck to him!

I suggest you forbid your child from doing this work now while you still can. This is an adult's job and not something for children. There is a reason why you never see young demonstrators... It takes a lot of life experience to do this job right.

You should have him do something else such as a cashier for a few years, to build up the skills that it takes to become a demonstrator.

Also, allowing your child to work for Mass Connections will cause a drastic drop in his grades. He will end up on that website all the time and will not be studying as much... If you really want him to do demos then I suggest you sign him up with PromoWorks, as they are a much more kid-friendly company that will help keep his grades up.

Just tell him that they called and said he was not hired because they already have too many people working in that area... You will be glad you did, trust me.

Oh... nevermind... I forgot that your first post was to ask if Wenpop was the person taking all her jobs... Afraid that Wenpop's son will 'take' even more of them are we?!:rolleyes1

This is a very easy job for ANYONE that is outgoing & has good problem solving skills. And I highly doubt the few seconds it takes to look for jobs will cause a "drastic drop in grades".... And why is Promoworks more kid friendly?! (Because you don't work for them & him booking those jobs won't interfere with you?!)

Wenpop... I have a DS16 & I know he wouldn't be good at this job, he needs more supervision/guidance than it takes to be able to execute an event on his own (at least at first).. but from the sound of your son he'd be really good at it!!! I say go for it!

Well right now there are tons of jobs posted that no one is taking, if he was hired already I could have him working about 5 days (from now till March)... So he wouldn't be taking any jobs that people want, because if he was they would be gone right now.... Also, I won't be working on Saturdays March till June because my other boys play baseball and soccer and I have to be there to see them play... So he will be covering for me.... Also, I will be picking his jobs for him and telling him where to be when.... Also I will be helping him on his first one to set him up and stuff.... I think he will be ok... Plus this will help me out.... I can't afford him... lololol... He is really breaking me with all the stuff he needs... He is in a lot of clubs at school, The spanish club, the National honors Society, etc...... He barely studies, he just knows stuff...
Anyway, I will not let him do anything I think he can not do and won't let him work every weekend....but if he could make at least $200 a month that would be enough.....
Thanks for everyone opinon!!! It helped a lot!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!
I'm off to do Cheese today!!!

I was online last night when Marta posted. And before she edited her post...the first sentence was something to the effect of "oh great, another person taking my jobs". Busted! The Promoworks info was added in the edit.

Yes, we look out for each other here.

I luv you guys!!! Thanks for being here for me!!!
Now I got to make pancakes for me kids and finish getting ready for work!!
Have a great day!!

I had posted earlier about a teen doing demos. She did work for another company, but I really don't see how that makes any difference.:confused3
Doing demo events for another company is still doing demos!?! The only difference I see is the pay.

Just out of curiosity: How far do y'all drive to these events? There is nothing listed on ebooking that is closer than an hour's drive from my home. I am surrounded by super Walmarts and Harris Teeters(grocery store) that are within a 10-20 minute drive, but apparently they don't do events with MC. It's strange because the events that are an hour away are held in Walmart, Harris Teeter, and Target stores.:confused3

The stores I look at range from 2 miles to 40 miles from home. It seems I go to that 40 mile store alot -- but probably not the most. I hope to be able to give up that store when the 2 Walmart SuperCenters open about 15 miles from home in March & April.

The only issue I see with a teen doing it is that the person MUST be self motivated and be able to perform his/her job WITHOUT supervision. Other than that, this job is SO EASY A CAVEMAN CAN DO IT!

If your child had below average grades and was NOT a captain of his football team I could see this being a problem and a distraction... Being captain alone demonstrates to me he has a drive to succeed (unless the rest of the team sucks and then him being captain doesn't really hold any water ;) i kid, i kid)

I agree with drgnfly30, I mean come on to say that this job (working at most 10 hours a week on the WEEKENDS) would cause an A+ student to drop his grades is a little bit out in right field.

If your son is self-motivated and able to work under less than supervised conditions then GO FOR IT!

Demoing is a Cut-throat job, take no prisoners :rotfl2: :lmao: <--- sorry, can't say that with a straight face :)

Stay tuned for my more SERIOUS pictures and one comic strip my mother sent me :)

I drive about 30 minutes each way for all my demos. Except today which was with Servco and not Mass. That was just around the corner at the Publix. Nice but not worth the cut in pay.

I started out in Charlotte with Mass last summer and they don't do all the Harris Teeter'. I hate to say it but they are kind of snobby about it. All the Harris Teeters I have done demos at in are the "flagship" stores in the really nice neighborhoods. Not the one near my house:rotfl:

When I first moved to the beach, they didn't have any events at either the Harris Teeters' here. After about 3 months, they started having them occassionally. Be patient and some may open up.

I also live 4 miles for the nearest Target. In 8 months, we have had 2 demos at this store. I have to drive 1/2 hour to Georgia if I want to do Target.

I met 2 ladies today who were both shopping separately who do demos for area companies. Hit it off with one of them, & we chatted for a bit. Exchanged names, emails & company names. Told her about this thread. She's been doing this for several years with a couple of companies...3-4 days a week...and makes $11.50/hr currently with Stratmar. They do alot of Hannaford grocery stores..and not as many Walmart as they used to. Both ladies really liked our cardboard tables & how they fold down.

We had our first REAL SNOW last night this winter. FINALLY. Only about 4". But it was beautiful clear blue skies & sunny today.

Anyway, I took the camera with me, and here's a picture. NO LAUGHING. ;) Not the greatest display. I have a hard time with those Hershey displays. They are ackward on the table & leave no room...escpecially when you have 4 products to display & sample.
