Microcell, as you know, this is my only job. But I had quit my full time job before finding this work. Things I'm missing out on by only having this as a job are: no retirement fund by employer & other benefits; no office co-workers to chit-chat with so sometimes I get lonely; no sick days or vacation days........ that kind of stuff. It has benefits over office crap environment sometimes though. I'm fortunate enough that I don't "need" the money. I'm doing it for extra money & for something to do besides sit around. It gets me out of the house. But I've been depressed some about the situation I've created for myself by walking out on a 30k job. I know that if we are ever going to get some of the larger dreams we were close to fulfulling ( a brand new home), that I'm going to have to go back to a full time job & deal with all the stress & hassles that come with it.

On the other hand, if MC doesn't give you enough work, you can always sign up with multiple demo companies. Good luck in deciding. Its all in what will make you happy. I'm not totally thrilled with working weekends now while DH is home, but I try to make sure we get enough time to still do things.

I am contemplating making this my only job, doing it on both weekend days. Many of us have been doing it for almost a year now (and some over) and what do you think? I figured out that I need to make 450.00 a month, which I should be able to do. I would lose weekends with my family, but it would keep DS out of daycare his Kindergarten year. The work has been pretty consistant, except Christmas season, which looking back, I only missed out on 3 weeks work, which I could overcome selling on EBAY or something. Well? It is pretty stable, right?

Do you have a lot of jobs available now? I would be worried that I'd have competition or no job postings.

splsh-don't feel bad about missing out on those things. Not everyone that has a "real job" has those benefits. I've worked for the same company for almost 15 yrs (have been in the business I'm in for 23yrs) and I do not have sick pay or a retirement fund. When you work for a small company, they just don't have to offer those things........and she certainly doesn't!
So although I feel as if I work hard and I've worked many years, I feel I have nothing to show for it as far as being able to retire someday. People might say "go get another job" but I enjoy what I do (some days) and it's all I've done since high school so don't know what else I would do?!
And I'm sure alot of people out there know that finding a new job in this day and age is not really easy!

So there are alot of us working other jobs besides our demo jobs and still missing out on the things you are missing out on! Just did not want you to feel like you were the only one!

I've just had the day from you know where

I went to Wal-Mart, waited for a parking spot (even had my signal on). This guy pulls in so I honk the horn, he fliiped me off. Nice move. I drive on down the lane and I come to where you have to stop to turn. This old guy hits my car on the passenger side and messed up my door. We call the insurance people and file the claim.

I finally go into Wal-Mart. They have a Snyder's display and PLENTY of product. I am so excited. I go to the self checkout to pay and my MC card was denied several times. I call to again to make sure it's activated and it was. Tried to swipe again but no go. I call the help desk and get a recording. I left a message. I waited till about 12:30 with no call back so I call MC's main number. I tell the lady what's going on and she put me right through to the help desk voice mail again I waited around till 2, went in and made a swipe out with my own money and had them sign the paper. The guy from help desk calls me back at 2:35. No idea why my card wouldn't work but tells me to take money tomorrow just in case and they will reimburse me. What a day

I'm back from Snyders. I come back to the DIS to find out I've received 40 points for a major personal attack & I've lost my siggy & PMs for 30 days. So don't try PMing me. A few of you have my email address if you need me for any reason. And if Splash disappears one of these days, don't worry, I'll still be here reading.

My archilles tendon never got better like the web said it would once I started moving around this morning. I'm basically limping around. I've taken Aleve & I've iced it. Any other suggestions?

I ran out of cups at 3pm - just when I learned that there were 15 more CASES of product in the back room. Would have been nice to know that earlier when I thought I had sold out of French Onion sunflower chips. I restocked 3 cases since that was all the room I had.

I ran into a girl from high school (25 yrs ago). She's one of the nicest people you could ever meet. For some reason, after she left my table, I started tearing up & was sooooo embarrassed that THIS is what I do for work now. I don't know where that came from because I've seen other people I know & I haven't been bothered. I ended up calling DH from my cell in the back room just so he could make me feel better.

So sorry Pooh Girl 71 and SplshMtn99, that you did not have a good day today with Snyders. to both of you!
The Snyder rep was in my store today and was very impressed with the way the product was "flying off the shelves". He also kept commenting on all the chips he saw in people's carts and the fact that many had two bags. He asked my name, so I'm hoping good things come from it!
He pulled more product out for me since he was worried I would run out. Good thing, too, because the sunflower chips were almost gone. But..I have no idea how many sold because he restocked.
I ran out of cups at 1:50 and used napkins after that. Cups were so much easier. I'm really tired now, and was losing my voice from all the talking, explaining the different flavors and selling points!

Yep.. if it's one thing I learned doing Flat Crisps was that chips/pretzels/crackers are less messy with cups.

I just noticed that I am doing a Grand Opening today My event changed from 11-4 to 2-7pm. Oh wow! At least they gave me a back up plan in case no one can find my kit!!!

Lots of ST events up for June 2nd and 3rd (Weight Watchers Yougart, Market Pantry Soft Pretzels, Soy Joy.) and I even got one for 7/8 (Bertolli) at the ST I like a lot! I have 5 events coming up-3 at ST (TMT) and 2 at WM (Spi.)

Well I'm back from the trix/fiber one, it was an intersting event, i will post more later but i have to say that for being a 6 hour event it wen by SUPER quick!!!

I know the ST here does alot of demos.......cause I see them.....but they must use a different company!

The ST in Lawrence (Ks) uses TMT and their own employees. Usually on a weekend, there are 3 Target employees and 3 TMT employees. IF the demo person is wearing tan pants, they are a Target employee.
But there is a lot of competition for the ST. I know two ladies from TMT who, between them, are on the event website all day long. They take turns checking for new jobs. If one is "on-duty" and needs to use the restroom, she will call the other lady to cover for her while she is away from the computer. This way they get most of the jobs!
