Convincing dh to go to WDW is not the problem, actually we plan on being in WDW during the dates of the 2002 DIS Con, so obstacle one is already taken care of! the problem is that DH doesnt have any desire to participate in a DIS convention. He is a huge disney fanatic like the rest of us, he loves going to WDW soooooo much, but he really doesnt want to go to the Con. how do I convince him???

some of you must have disney fanatic spouses that needed to be coaxed into the Con??!!! did they end up having fun???? how do I handle this????????

thanks!!! :)

Laura :) :) :)

going to WDW tomorrow!!! running the WDW marathon on Sunday!!! yipeee :) :) :)

Princess ANgel, good luck! Lots of us left our sposes home. And we had a balst! (Love them, but its kind of like going to a class reunion when your spouse didn't go with you!)

Can you get him on the boards and he can start getting to know the nuts, I mean dis'ers who hang out? I am sure he can find someone who shares similar interests, and Disney! Which seems to be the common link with everyone!!!!

Let us know how you make out and good luck!

My husband watched me work on this for over a year.. He knew it was very important to me.. And for all the years that I supported him in his endeavors, he came to be with me at DisCon.. I know my case is different than just going, but he had a ball.. The people were terrific, the events were great... something you could not do unless you were with the Convention...he still talks about it..

OK.. now I am thinking about what you could say to him.. I know that we will probably do the Dessert party with private illuminations viewing.. Now that was special.. We made lots of Memories that night.. I will never forget it..so that is something you could entice him with.. We had many mini meets and events planned throughout the Convention.. We did a thrill rides tour that was terrific.. we had a private breakfast with special characters.. we did karaoke.. we went to jellyrolls.. but with a group, which made it the most fun..I almost forgot we also had Tower of Terror for 3 hours after the park closed.. The ones I am listing are for this past years Convention.. Next years can only be bigger and better.. Good luck

Hi Laura,
I really hope you can"work" on him and come! There is so much to do and when you are in a group it is such fun! We also had Drinking around the world, around World Showcase, karaoke, and so much more. I guess that the best thing about the convention is that you have flexibility to adjust your itinerary and do what you like best. I don't dig thrill rides, so on that particular day I just took a break and went to MVMCP.

I like Jody's idea about bringing him to the boards!

Ummmmmm.... I don't mean to be a troublemaker, but I'd suggest
coming SOLO
:D :D

Laura, if your DH is a Disney fanatic, he will have the very best time! Until you share the magic and wonders of WDW with other Disney fanatics, you won't believe you can have that much fun! We go to WDW all the time as a family and have a wonderful time. But going to the convention (I went alone) and spending all my time with other DIS'ers exceeded my expectations. We talked, we sang, we partied, we rode rides together and WE LAUGHED! A few of us lost our voices the very first night-from non-stop talking, singing, and laughing! We ate meals together, too. I can't tell you how much fun you'll have-you won't believe it. It's just a very special experience your DH should not miss.
Marsha, I still see Tommy walking around with his tiara!! :D

Hi princess angel! I see we're almost neighbors here in CT.

Maybe you could convince him to come to one of the meets that will be going on in this area so he would get to know a few people & see how much fun we have when we get together. There's a meet coming up at Foxwoods in March, maybe you could make that one. DH & I are planning on being there at least for one day. :D We'd love to meet you.

thank you guys so much!!!!!!! this is why I want to go to the Con so bad, cause all of you on th eboard are so nice and friendly and helpful!!!!!!!! and most of all fellow WDW fanatics!!!

Dh IS a disney fanatic, and truthfully Mackey-Mouse, I think your reply alon would entice him!!! Just the Dessert party, & Tower of Terror for 3 hrs, may be enough to entice him!!!
actually, it all sounds like so much fun, I want to go even more now!!!

going solo is not an option, as we will be in wdw already for our 2 week vacation, and I wouldnt want to leave him out of it anyway! I know he'd have a great time! it's just convincing him to hang out w/as you put it Pumbaa_ , disney nuts! he is a fanatic, but he thinks I'm a little over the edge w/the DIS!

I know he'd have a lot in common w/people on the DIS, I can tell just by being on here so much! I think that I will probably be able to convince him, I'll keep ya posted. I'll bring it up this weekend while in WDW!!! that'll help! :)

and perfectmatch, when is that DIS meet at Foxwoods?? where can I get the info? thanks!!! :)

Laura :)

going to WDW in 14 hours!!! :) to run the marathon on sunday! yipeeee :) :) :)

Hi princess angel.

I can't sleep either, so can I stow away with you & go to WDW???? Don't expect me to join you in the marathon, though!

The Foxwoods meet is scheduled for March 23, 24. I don't know if there's any more details yet but I'll see what I can find out. :D

There's a post on the CB with the info currently available, & a sign up list on the Magic Meetings page.

Almost everything has already been covered, but I have a difficult time letting threads go by without putting in my .02 first. :D

Options As I See Them:

1) Come Solo. :D

2) Remind him that never, not once do we all sit in a stuffy room and blah, blah, blah TALK blah, blah, blah like at 'normal' conventions. We had a short opening reception and a short closing reception....and both of them were extremely casual and most of all--FUN!! :bounce:

3) DIS-Con is really just an excuse to meet and greet and eat with other :bounce: FUN :bounce: DIS fantatics.

4) The convention events are AWESOME! Nothing boring, stuffy, or boring. ;) Each event was beautifully planned and wonderfully executed. :)

5) We are all BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL people who are just looking for an excuse to 'par-tay' at WDW. :D

6) Fantasmic Dessert Party, Illuminations Dessert Party, Character Breakfast, Dining Around EPCOT, Drink Around The World, Jellyrolls, Kimono's (karaoke! :D ), MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, The Adventurer's Club....the list goes on and on..........

Okay Laura. This was my best shot! :D Good Luck. :) Here is some ~*~pixie dust~*~ for your DH. :) :) :)

Good Luck with your marathon! You go girl! :bounce:

Princess Angel- I know where you are coming from. I have lurked on the boards for years but hardly ever posted. When I say the Dis-Con Was going to happen I was so excited. I really wanted to meet the people that I felt I almost knew. My DH never read the boards and I did not think he even knew they existed except for me reading him different posts occasionally. He loves Disney and we have been there 12 times in the 20 years we have been married so I knew he would want to go again. As it got closer I shared more and more the excitement from the boards and when we got there he was ready to meet peolpe. We did not do all the meets but did the major ones. By the end he had made new freinds and could not believe it was over. He is looking forward to going this year because there was not time to talk to everyone he wanted too and wants to do more meets. So maybe you can talk your DH into just going to a few meets to get started. I am sure he will warm up to us quickly. Believe me, he won't be able to help himself with this group.

OHHHHHHHHHH when do we go????? LOL I Am packed and ready!!!! Clothes may be a bit wrinkled by the time it gets here HEEHEE

LOL Tink. :D You're my kinda gal. :D I was packed and waiting at my local airport for weeks!!! :bounce:

Just do what I did. Whine about it until your DH (or in my case DW) get's so tired of hearing you whine that he (she) lets you go. It worked for me. :)

LOL, John!:D

Tia, When are we going to do our Christmas decorating and shopping next year?! ;)

Corinne

LOL John, too funny! I'm so glad she let you go! We had the most fun, didn't we?!?! :D
I'm already planning my Christmas decorations for next year, Corrine. It was so funny to see you post that. I set up this huge Dept. 56 North Pole village on my dining room table every year. I set it up right after Halloween last year, so I wouldn't have to worry about it later! Well, I think I'm going to skip it next year. With the convention running later into Dec, I think I need to keep the decorations fairly low key. I'll do most before I leave and just save the tree for when I get home. I'm already shopping for gifts. Now when do I pack?!?!?! :D :D

LOL, Barb!! I think packing should begin - or at least the "itinerary for packing"
immediately after Memorial Day!!!
