1. How is the studio availability for the Thanksgiving week at Copper Creek? Thanksgiving is the most likely week that my family can go to WDW so I would like to know the availability before I pull the trigger.
2. The studio is among the smallest in DVC and I am wondering if it is big enough for my family of 4 (2 young kids now age 3 and 8)
3. Since there is no monorail there, do you think the bus and boat system are good and efficient enough for getting to Magic Kingdom and other parks. Or, I will need to rent a car if stay at CCV?

Thanks a lot,

If you want Thanksgiving week, I would ask and see if you can get a fixed week from Disney. Fixed weeks are guaranteed booking but can also be used for just the points for a year when that week won't work.I routinely stay in studios with my family of five (kids are 19,12,10) and we are fine. However, we don't cook and just use the toaster for bagels in the morning. The buses and boat system are quick and efficient IMO and I would be fine staying there. Good luck with your decision to purchase!

I would not buy at CCV wanting to travel Thanksgiving week to a studio without buying a fixed week.

When sold out, CCV will have a maximum possible 78 studios. 36 of them will be part of lock-off 2BR units, so may not be booked or available as studios. Meanwhile, Disney is selling points against 26 of the cabins - over a million points against the cabins alone. But most people are not buying enough points to book a cabin. They're booking smaller units.

We are already seeing this at Poly - studios are being booked up quickly in popular times, and people are getting shut out during home resort booking. Poly had the bungalows. But Poly also has a LOT more studios to balance out those bunaglow points.

I think 5 years from now, people will be trying to book CCV studios for much of fall and have to be online at 8AM at 11 months. Many will get shut out, especially for popular weeks like the first two weeks of December, and Thanksgiving week.

The studios at CC are small but well laid out with lots of storage. Even with that I don’t think I would want to stay in one with more than 3 people. We own 70 points there and will be adding 50 in a few months. I am expecting my first child. Once i have a second child we are planning to use our CC points for a one bedroom every other year and continue to use our Poly points for a studio every year.
We did find transportation to be great when we stayed at CC. The boat to MK was quick and convenient. Plus we just enjoy the boat rides much more than monorail or bus. The bus transportation to the other parks was average. We will be staying here quite frenquently with a young child and are looking forward to it!

Thanks a lot. Since you are an owner at CCV, do you mind letting me know the studio availability for the thanksgiving week at this moment when you get a chance? Just want to get an idea on how difficult to book between 7-11 ‘moths window. Thanks in advance

CCV studios are booked Thanksgiving week except for one night. Availability is very spotty for fall into early December right now. This was one of my major concerns about buying into CCV, and the small rooms, but I did it anyway because I love WL (although it’s not my only home resort).

Thanks a lot for checking for me. Only one night availablility is much worse than I expected......especially when the CCV is not yet sold out. I will have to pass or pay more to get the guaranteed week feature.

Thanks again,

Thanks again,
i just looked as well and it looks like only about 4-5 nights available the entire month of November. We are planning to mainly use CCV for our May/June trip, at least while we are booking studios. Although, I had to be on at 8am exactly 11 months out to get my Poly trip for the coming December as well. By lunch it was gone!

CCV not being sold out and not fully declared also means that not all studios are even available for booking on points. Thanksgiving is likely to be popular like it is at most resorts and require 11 month bookings. Looking at what's available at 9 months out isn't really telling much for a busy time unless someone were looking to buy elsewhere and hope to book at 7 months out.

CCV is only about 30% declared and the declaration is biased towards large units.

That said, I do think studios will be an 11 month booking all of fall when sold out, and a lot of buyers won't be able to book.

We bought CCV guaranteed week 50 studio. Love the guaranteed week's flexibility - the reservation is booked automatically about 11.5 months in advance, but you can call any time (up to a month in advance, I believe) to cancel and use points however you wish. There is a 10% point premium that is charged if you do decide to elect the guarantee (our week usually costs 107 pts, but we are charged 118 pts). If the week happens to still be available at 11 months, just cancel the guarantee and rebook the week (and save your 11 or so points :)

The only caveat is if your kiddos don't take showers, the guaranteed studio is deeded for a walk-in shower, not tub/shower.

For that matter, it is worth noting that for every buyer with a guaranteed week, that is a unit not available at 11 months. While there is a cap on guaranteed weeks, it becomes another factor in high season

Good to know they still have a lot available. How do you find out they only declared 30%? Thanks,

I never know that it is so flexible and the 10% can be even refunded if cancelling. How does guarantee week work exactly? How much we need to pay to ge the feature? Thanks a lot,

That is public information. It is generally announced when they declare more inventory and you will be able to find it here and on other DVC related sites.

Thanksgiving is tough, but is doable if you book at 11 months, BUT as others have said, who knows what it will be like when the resort has been fully sold. The Wilderness Lodge (including CCV and BRV) is VERY popular when the Christmas decorations are up.

The studios are converted hotel rooms. If you are OK with a studio the size of a hotel room, then you will be fine. Keep in mind that for the studios there is one bed and a queen size pullout sofa.

Thanks. The reason for staying at studio is to save money....... in addition, the current point chart does not make much sense for me to take 1 bedroom — 1 bedroom is usually cost 50% more if pay $$$ cash, but about double if pay DVC points. It is like spent more points for less dollar-value for me.

If you like the resort, why not buy BRV resale and get enough points for a 1 bedroom. It's a shorter contract life, but might work for your budget.

I agree. We are generally studio people (current CCV owners). I figure there will be time to add-on (probably via resale) down the road when grandchildren arrive.

This year, BRV studios also dried up at 11 months for the first two weeks of December. They are the two highest demand weeks of the year.

Realistically, more units declared equals more points being sold, so I don't expect total declaration to make studios easier for November and December.

Love CCV!! We haven't stayed in a studio there but have stayed in a 1BR and it was so nice. It's hard to say if the size of the room is enough for your family since it's very subjective - there are some that love studios for their family of 4 or 5 (although CCV accommodates 4 not 5), while we bought DVC for the purpose of staying in 1BRs as a family of 3 and 2BRs in the future since we value the additional space and features. If you can, it might help to stay there before buying. We stayed in the 1BR before buying and it really cemented our decision. As others have said, studio availability for the holiday season will likely be tricky, although the 1BR is pretty open.

As for transportation, I tend to not prefer the monorail and love traveling by boat at Disney. We took the boat and the bus to MK in December and they were both convenient. We did also rent a car, but that's a personal preference - we are used to driving at home and often prefer the convenience of a car on vacation.

BRV is another option if you want to save money and buy resale, and just want to be at WL. We preferred CCV for many reasons (decor, room features, main building for the holidays, contract length, immediate access to points), but some prefer BRV. The studios at BRV also have a pull down Murphy bed.
