want a luxury hotel , which will be best?

hi all,
we went dlp in jan of this year and stayed at the sequoia in a montana rm it was great really nice, bot thinking of going again either in august bank holiday or around early october quite flexible on dates , but this time want to have a really nice luxurious hotel was looking at the disney hotel and if we saved hard could prob do this but it might not be till the oct dates as its cheaper then,

my question is this we're not too bothered about the location of the hotel , we found the sequoia walk every day very pleasent we more want a bit more luxuary so is the disney hotel the best one for this or would we find the new york would be cheaper and more luxuary than sequioa was looking at the newport bay the admirals floor but read some reviews saying its a bit shabby so that has put me off .

also the question of dates ?
the only downside to our trip in jan was we went 7-10th jan and all the parks shut at 6pm and we were bored and felt we missed out on the lovely restaurants in the parks at night, also no parades were on , so this time we want late opening parks and the shows/parades to be on

so when would you say to go either aug 27-30 or oct for the halloween special?

Hi, I have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and Hotel New York and they both have similar amenities, apart from that the Disneyland Hotel has the turn down service in the evening, both hotels have mini bar, room service, swimming pool, The hotel New York has the better pool. The theming of the Disneyland Hotel is more Disney themed while I think the HNY has a more sophisticated theme. I would say that the HNY makes an excellent cheaper alternative to the Disneyland Hotel, it also has a great location and by the lake and by the village.

I've just got back from staying at the Newport Bay on The Admirals Floor. If I were you, I wouldn't bother. I thought the rooms were a little tired, and was very disappointed with the hotel. Having stayed at many of the Disney Hotels in Florida, I would compare the hotel and service to that you would expect of a holiday camp in the UK!

The staff were very unhelpful...sometimes rude...We would have to allow at least 30 minutes to get downstairs at a busy time with 2 pushchairs as the lifts were manic. People would get in the lifts to go up, to come back down, so by the time it got to the 8th floor it was full and it would take at least 10 lifts to be called for us to squeeze in, often in seperate lifts.

Breakfast was a joke, I've NEVER seen anything like it, It was like the crowds that gathered for the Kate Moss Launch at Top Shop in Oxford Street!!! Everyone pushing, shoving and huge waits, all up the stairs and spilling into the lobby! Also only one lift to get downstairs, so waits again.... We ended up eating breakfast at the Disney Village and paying extra.

We visited the New York and SL. I was so impressed with the SL. It was so relaxing after a day at the parks to sit in the bar area, and it would be great in the winter with that huge open fireplace. We both said that if we went again, we would definately stay there, and it was much cheaper. Bonus!

I know I've gone on and on complaining, but I'd hate you or anyone else to waste their money on the Admiral Floor at the Newport Bay.

I agree. DLH is ok, but I feel HNY has a more upscale feel and better service at a lesser price. I would opt for there. Or if money becomes an issue, the Holiday Inn and the Dreamcastle have more upscale offerings than the Sequoia and NBC at better prices.

Sad but true. NBC is beautiful to look at on the outside, but it is sooooo poorly managed. Biggest hotel in Europe, but with a staffing level not much higher than the smaller HNY. SL is great for on a budget. HNY is fantastic value. DLH has a great location but is overpriced (and yes, I have stayed at the Grand Californian, many of the deluxe WDW hotels and the Waldorf/Ritz/Four Seasons/Burj Dubai. DLH is overpriced.

Best value hotel overall, Holiday Inn.

Hi, over the last 15 years I have been to NBC, SL & NY. And over the last few years, have mainly gone to the NY.
2 main reasons: Smaller hotel, meaning less crouds in bar & restaurants (even in high season and I do like to come back from the parks and go for a relaxed drink) and my personal biggest reason of all: No need to book a specific time for breakfast: You just turn up.
For this year (just booked 3 days, 3 nights in August ) it will be NY again, even though I had been threatening to go back to the NBC and try Admiral floor, but after poor reviews, and confirmation from the Disney booking line that there was no special treatment for breakfast even on Admiral floor I finally chose NY again. Also if you look at the price difference between Admiral floor & NY it's litterally peanuts !

Can't add anything different from this excellent point. I'm sure you will not be disappointed with either DLH or HNY
