promise not to tell?

we're just back from our 10-day stay at DLP which we thoroughly enjoyed...
i thought we'd go for halloween this year instead of christmas and it was really great.

but obviously I'm a 'have your cake and eat it too' type as I just booked a 5 night stay starting on the 6th so we can see Belle's village etc before it all gets taken down.
and we can try cafe agrabah, the TOT and mainly eat at inventions and l'auberge de cendrillon again.

This decision was mainly influenced by driving back from Manchester to st andrews last night - I was sitting in the back watching Christmas movies with my 3 lovely children and ds1 who is 2 1/2 also started telling me about how he wanted me to make him a peter pan costume, dd a wendy costume and ds2 a Michael costume (which shouldn't be too tricky - a pink babygro with a collar) and he wanted us all to go on the Peter Pan ride.

I'm obviously very weak-willed....
Plus I saw how the availability had decreased dramatically in a week.

I'm probably asking in the wrong place..... but is this a little bit ostentatious? 2 trips in two months....

I'll probably be posting on here a fair bit as I'm planning not to tell anyone else until considerably nearer the time. I don't know how hard that will be yet.
But I needed to tell someone!

I'm going to make them all new outfits and give them as Christmas presents and then possibly let them in on the news then. How does that sound?
I know DH doesn't mind the idea as the only reason we're not going actually ON Christmas is so he can get on lots of equipment in his lab at work while everyone's away. So it's not as if I'm presenting him with a heap of driving for Christmas and he'll resent it (fingers crossed).

Right... I'm off to book a Eurotunnel crossing with my clubcard points.

Ostentatious...er no.
Disneytastic...heck yes it is. How fab for the kids. They are only little once - you go for it and enjoy every minute.

Your biggest prob might be persuading DS2 to put on a pink babygro!

lol - if only that was a problem - ds1 raids his sister's drawers for pink things - he ran around manchester in a pink floral pair of trousers. as he's in his terrible twos and i have a small baby it's just not practical to spend hours telling him nicely to put jeans on.
anyway, ds2 is only 5 months old so can't complain....
we're planning on home-schooling them!

however ds1 is also a Evil Kneivel daredevil thrillseeker so our trips to DLP are the only time I don't have to yell at him to get down from things. he can choose which rides to go on so he has some autonomy and he will hopefully be less shy of the characters this time.

the trip is also a reward for dd as she does so well with french and does use it when we're there.

i have to say i am very excited indeed!

I am sure you will have a fantastic time - I am very weak willed when it comes to Disney too :lmao:

I'm the same (though I've never managed a 10-day trip!)

I'm trying to talk my girlfriend into a quick xmas trip. If we go it'll be my third time this year and my 9th time in 3 years!

Wow a 10 day trip and now another long trip right afterwards! How I envy you :) ! We want to go back too of course but I'm not sure when that will be. We too really want to ride TOT, it's a favorite of ours in Florida!

well there has to be at least one perk of not having a job and dh being a phd student on a teeny grant!(but lots of holiday time).
we have so little room in our house it makes sense to spend my christmas budget on a trip instead of more toys to cram somewhere....

Well done, makes perfect sense to me too :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 ! Enjoy yourselves, I know you will ::yes::!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't remember what toys I received as a child but I can vividly remember every family holiday we took. :)

oh, thanks for that, you guys!
i've realised it's only 6 weeks to go.
ds1's ferretted out the dlp dvd so we're reminding ourselves about how much we want to go back....
