Wanna Drive 811 miles to Disney? Tomorrow? Another Mickeystoontown Report (that will be finished!) *Updated 11/6

I still haven't ridden the Rat ride. Maybe I will finally get to it at Thanksgiving. And how did you go to the France area and NOT have a Grand Marinier Slushie????? That's most of the reason I even go to Epcot.

I rode the Rat Ride for the first time ever in November. OMG, it was so fun. But I think my family and friends enjoyed my screams more than the ride. PS: it isn't scary, but boy is it realastic!

Love your Tea Pot table decorations!
Thank you! I love decorating and haven't been able to in a long time.

Never fear! I've had one before!

Isn't it fun!?!?! I love it!

Love reading all about your trips! Where did you find the Mary Poppins teapot? Thanks!

We've got more catching up to do!

You may recall that we left the United Kingdom and were on our way around World Showcase and going towards Future World. We purchased a tea pot in the United Kingdom, stopped for another tinkle break near the old Starbucks location, took a quick look at the menu at the nearest food and wine festival booth (didn't get anything) and then traveled on towards The Seas.

Our dinner reservation check in time was nearing so I stopped my wandering and went back to the spot where John was sitting and watching a video. With his epilepsy, sometimes he just needs a semi-quiet spot and a distraction to take away all the background noise around him. This brief pit stop was good for him.

Up next: What do you mean? We ought to just get up and leave!

How did I not know you did a trip report on your Memorial Day trip? I'm all caught up but skipped all the comments. I'm always wondering how Mama is doing. This part of life's journey isn't easy, is it? Hubby (with heart failure and other things going on) just told me to book a November trip. I'm not sure it will happen.

Uh oh…foreshadowing!
I'll go ahead and tell you that it isn't lifechanging but it was disappointing!

I should have posted on Facebook that I was writing a report. Mama is not doing too well. There are days when she is okay and others that visiting her is really really hard. I make sure that someone goes every single day to see her.

Girllllllll, really? Reach out to me and I can help make it happen! And maybe we can meet up too!

What do you mean? We ought to just get up and leave!

Our dinner reservation was at Coral Reef which is one of our favorite restaurants. Their shrimp and grits are amazing and that's coming from a girl from Louisiana where shrimp and grits are on the menus everywhere. I remember the first time we were contemplating eating there and being afraid that the restaurant would smell like fish. LOL I guess I was thinking big aquarium full of fish + glass wall = stinky restaurant. I'm such a dummy.

Before we checked in at the podium, I took a quick picture of Spaceship Earth:

IMG_4425.JPEG

We checked in and had barely sat down to wait when they called us in. Our waiter took our drink order, handed us the menu and set off to get our drinks. I immediately noticed that the shrimp and grits were no longer on the menu? The shrimp and grits is what I always order. Always. Every time. Each visit. Our waiter came back with the drinks and the pull apart rolls.
IMG_4426.JPEG

He asked if we needed help or suggestions and John asked about the shrimp and grits. He told us that they had removed them from the menu a few months before. John let out a dramatic huff and asked "What do you mean? We ought to just get up and leave!" Our waiter thought that he was serious. I mean we kinda were upset but not enough to get up and leave. We told him that we were just joshing. He made a couple of suggestions and we both decided that we would get the Surf and Turf. While he went to put our order in, we ate some of the rolls which were delicious and reminded me of the bread at Ohana.

I took pictures of the giant sting ray sitting at the window just watching the guests while they dined. I sent it to Hunter and Tabitha because Tabitha fell in love with the ray when they dined there.

IMG_4428.JPEG

I also took a picture of the lights which are super cute seashell designed. When remodeling my Mama's house, we took down a couple of old light fixtures that looked kind of like this. I saved old of the glass globes and said that I may be able to decorate with it one day. Maybe I'll do a Coral Reef themed centerpiece or something. I don't know. I just know that I can't simply toss out everything about my Mama's house. I'm weird. I know.

IMG_4429.JPEG

Our waiter checked on us and refilled John's drink while we were waiting on the entrees. When they were set before us, I wasn't sure about it. I like chimichurri but I wasn't so sure John would like it. It's described as "filet mignon, grilled shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, key lime chimichurri".

IMG_4430.JPEG

My fear was for nothing. It was great. Having said that, John didn't eat the chimichurri that was on the plate. He only ate what was already on the steak and shrimp. I love anything citrus so this was right up my alley.

We decided not to order any dessert but our waiter brought us out a small dessert since we were wearing our anniversary pins. Our anniversary isn't until August 10th but we were celebrating early. I don't even have a picture of the dessert or remember which one he brought out but it wasn't the standard little cupcake. It was a "real" dessert and was really good. We thanked him for helping us celebrate.

IMG_4433.JPEG

I took one more picture of the aquarium while we waited on our ticket. I sent it to Tabitha and told her that the ray had barely moved during the entire meal. He/She/It was in a comfy spot I guess.

For a table service restaurant and the meals that we ordered, I didn't think that the price was bad at all. Granted, we aren't the kind that get sticker shock anymore when we order food. We also travel to various places and know that any time you are in a touristy area, you are going to pay more than in one of our hometown restaurants.

As you can see from the ticket, it was after 9:00 p.m. and the park was officially closed. The new nighttime show was going on and we knew that we either had to hotfoot it over to the Skyliner and beat the crowds or we could take it slow and just join the crowds. We were full so we decided we'd stroll.

Up next: But first!

I'm so happy to find this latest trip report. I always love your adventures. When I read in one of your posts about the Etsy store, I still have Minnie Mouse back sacks that you made for my travel group years ago. I use it every trip and I'm always asked where I got it and tell them a nice person from the Disboards made it for me. I also got a few pillow case dresses. Hope that things make a turn for the better with your Mom. Life always takes us on an adventure. Will add your Mom into my prayers for sure. Thanks for letting us share in your adventure.......

I'm sorry about your mother's health ❤.

I am enjoying your TR! We also have a Disney Cruised booked for 2025, and I'mvery excited!!!

Hi Lisa! :wave::wave::wave:

It's been so long as I haven't been on the DIS lately, but I popped in and I saw you had the new TR and had to stop by. A last minute trip sounds great, though I'm sorry you had such terrible traffic getting there! I like your Epcot day, I also like doing longer trips so you can go slow and enjoy all of the little things, and I'm glad you guys got to do that even with a short trip!

I've commented some on Facebook, but I'm so sorry about the whole situation with your Mama. I hope she improves and I'm glad you can still visit with her several times a week, I know you are used to seeing her a ton since she was just next door!

What days will you be there in November? I'm going on a trip in November with my parents and one of my sisters the week before Thanksgiving.

Phew! Glad you were able to find a suitable alternative 😋
The alternative was very delicious and it helped with the disappointment that there were no shrimp and grits on the menu.

Hey!!!!! You've been reading for a long long time!

I so appreciate your prayers for Mama.

We haven't cruised in a long time and I'm excited to be cruising again. Which ship are you sailing on and where are you going?

Oh my gosh! You are back too!!!!!

I try not to post too terribly much about Mama because, well, I don't really know why. I guess out of a sense of privacy for her.

We arrive on November 14th and check out on the 30th. What are your dates?

But first!

We left Coral Reef with full stomachs. The nighttime show had already started and we knew that we either had to hotfoot it over to the Skyliner and beat the crowds or we would take it at a slower pace and join the other 9,999,982 people attempting to take the Skyliner. We chose to go semi-slow so that I could take a few pictures. They didn't turn out very good but I was trying not to get other people in the pictures so no real straight on photos.

I love visiting during a festival and/or holiday! The grounds and topiaries at Epcot are gorgeous! Because we didn't rush to the exit, the line for the Skyliner went all the way to the bridge on the walkway to Beach Club. Oh well, that's the price we pay for not moving quicker. Before we got in the line, I stopped for a bathroom break. I didn't want to risk us being stuck in a line and me having to go tinkle later.

Bathroom stop made, we got in line which had gotten shorter which is always a plus. The line was still long but it was moving. Thankfully, we were in between two nice families. That's always good when you are in a tight space for quite some time.

**Up next: Epilepsy sucks!

We will be on the Disney Fantasy, on a 4 night/5 day sailing to the Bahamas (Nassau and Lookout Cay). We thought a shorter sailing would be good for a first cruise :) . It will be myself and hubby, and our 2 kids (ages 15 & 7). I'm so excited!!!
