Wanna Drive 811 miles to Disney? Tomorrow? Another Mickeystoontown Report FINISHED! 2/14/25!

Haha well I liked the chicken story! 😄 Glad your flock ended up mostly OK, that had to have been scary. You are going to have more eggs than you know what to do with!

Please don't tell my best friend about your chickens. She has wanted chickens since we were in graduate school. Her wife would hate me if I told her this information.

Alas, we just had to get rid of our four beloved pet chickens because our crazy neighbor lady claimed that they were getting out of our run and destroying her mulch. The fact that she has multiple bird feeders and flocks of wild turkeys in her yard daily is apparently irrelevant.
Keep loving dogs, cats, chickens and each other!

How are your chickens doing now? Have the new brood been able to join the older ones? My dream is to own chickens of my own one day (moving every few years makes this impossible now) so I love the chicken story. ::yes::

Hope the rain stops soon and you can make it to Remy without getting soaked!

This sounds like a good type of gift for my older son and for my maybe, possibly someday son-in-law.
You need to check out the selection that they have as they make great unique gifts.

I know! I am getting no less than a dozen a day now and when my new ones start laying, I'm going to have sooooo many eggs!

If you will give me their number, I'll be glad to give them a call and tell them how glorious it is to own chickens. LOL

Ummm, excuse me ma'am. Somebody that has a flock of wild turkeys in her yard has no say in your chickens. That's crazy!

The chickens are doing better. We sprayed them down (yes, I looked like a crazy woman running in circles after chickens in a 10x15 foot run) and they are beginning to get their feathers back. They still look a mess but a better mess than before.

Life update!

So, I've been missing for a bit but there's good reason...reasons...lots of reasons.

First, Mama isn't doing well at all mentally and it's taken a toll on us all. I'm worn the heck out. We have had a few bumps in the road as far as her care and getting everybody onboard with visiting her daily.

Second, our chicks are not little chicks anymore and we gotta get their darn coop built. It's been near 100 degrees every day and we have excessive heat warnings every single day. Chicks are in their run but there's no coop yet. We came up with a design around 10 p.m. last night and are planning on starting the work this weekend. In the heat. Sweatin' out butts off, I'm sure.

Third, I told y'all that Lacey is flying down to Orlando to meet us for our trip in November. I've been working on the details and trying to find decent flights that won't cut into her first park day too much. She came over this weekend and went "shopping" in my stash of Disney shirts. I have probably three dozen of them that I won't be wearing this trip because I won't wear the same shirt that I wore last trip. I need at least one vacation in between shirts. Yes, I'm weird like that. Her shopping trip was a success and she found enough shirts to wear for the entire trip.

Fourth, I bought Jollywood Nights party tickets for John and I. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party tickets were also purchased for John, Lacey and I! This will be the first time Lacey has gone to the MVMCP and she is excited.

Fifth, I am planning a family cruise! Yep, John and I are definitely sailing on Disney Wish in November 2025. Hunter and Tabitha are onboard (pun intended) so long as she can work her teaching schedule around the dates which probably won't be a problem since some of the classes she teaches are online and she can pre-schedule them. Lacey and Jesse are considering it. I think Jesse is a little iffy about it. John is doing his best to convince them to go too. By the first of next week, at least four of us will be booked. It's a Christmas cruise and we haven't sailed in November before. I have a fellow Dis friend/agent who cruises a lot and is helping me to choose a good stateroom.

There's the life update. I'm going to post another trip update today (possibly too) so stay tuned!

So sorry to hear about your Mom I have an elderly Mom too, and it's a lot
Hope all works out with your Disney plans 👍

Thanks for posting an update - you've got a lot going on! My mother-in-law is in a nursing home and she's going downhill mentally too. My DH and 5 of his brothers have a schedule so that one of them is there every day. I'm proud of them. Exciting plans ahead! Hope you get the whole family onboard for the cruise! Will be watching for another trip chapter.....

Yeah, we are never calm and chill. Always something going on. I hate that for your family. I wish that I could get my family to actually work out a schedule. My niece is an artist and can, fortunately, work her schedule around going during the work week. I've been going after work and on weekends at least three to four times a week.

I'm excited about the future plans too! Now we just gotta convince Jesse to go.

Is that? I swear that's! Nope, it's not.

Ummm, so I had the title above chosen but I'm having a brain fart and don't know why. Maybe it will come to me as I go through the pictures.

We left Japan and walked over to France so that we could use our lightning lane pass for Ratatouille. I don't know why I even try taking pictures because we all know that they will turn out looking like this crap since it's a 3D attraction:

Ratatouille was as amazing as we remembered from past trips. I love it!

We left France and strolled over to the United Kingdom. I have been wanting a tea pot and I figured if I was going to find one, it would be in the shops in this country. I found one that was super cute and had Mary Poppins on one side and Practically Perfect on the other. It was Disney but a subtle Disney. They also had the cream and sugar bowl to go with it but, stupid me, chose not to buy them. John told me to get them. I said I would use a pink depression glass set that I had at home. My memory ain't what it used to be because I don't even have a set in my pink depression glass collection. I am hopeful that they still have them when we go in November.

The cast membered rolled the tea pot around and around and around and around in the brown crinkly bubbly wrapper stuff. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful because I still had to lug it around the rest of the day and it would be riding over 800 miles home. However, the packaging made it really large so I bought a reusable bag to carry it in.

It was now getting closer to our dinner reservation so we finished up World Showcase, stopped at the potty, and headed on over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. The queue was empty and we didn't even see anyone until to the cast member directing guests to their clamshells.

Well, I'm still not sure how I came up with this title but I've started with it and I'll finish the update with it.

John is not a big animal/zoo/aquarium sort of guy. He likes 'em but he isn't big on standing around watching them so he found a quiet spot to sit while I walked around looking.

The eels were being extra eely today. Twisting around and through the holes. You know...bing eely.

Whoa! Wait a minute! Hold up a sec! Stop the trip report! Stop the trip report! We are missing a whole lotta stuff/pictures. Let me stop here and go back through my pictures 'cause this trip report has gone off course.

LET'S GO BACK IN TIME!

I interrupted my regularly scheduled trip report several day ago (okay...almost two weeks ago) because I realized that something was wrong. I was missing a chunk of time and pictures. So, let's magically go back in time. (insert a little twinkling noise here)

We found Donald in Mexico

Trolls in Germany AND made a pit stop

It started raining and we took cover with at least 100 friends in the area between the store and the restrooms.
When the rain slacked off, we power walked over to Japan where we did a little shopping. It started raining again so we took in the little museum type area and saw what an apartment in Japan looked like.

In the last update, I said we went to ride Ratatouille. We did but a little later than I wrote about. As you may recall, we were traveling during the Food & Wine Festival. We were a little hungry but not a whole lot of hungry. Plus, we had a dinner reservation coming up soon and we didn't want to be too full and not enjoy our meal.

LET'S GO BACK IN TIME CONT'D

We took a look at the menu in the France food and wine booth and there were several things on the menu that looked good. We couldn't make a decision so we purchased options.

The first was a beignet with caramelized something and filled with something. Don't you just love my descriptions?
IMG_4348.JPEG

Next was the duck with mashed potatoes and with a champagne "gravy".

IMG_4349.JPEG

The third was a croissant filled with a goat milk sauce something or other.

IMG_4350.JPEG

The beignet wasn't like any beignet that I had ever had before. Y'all remember, I'm from Louisiana where beignets look totally different and are covered in powdered sugar. It was good even though there was very little cream in the middle.

I was a little leery of the duck. My daddy was a duck hunter and we had duck a good bit. Neither John or I are big duck fans but we wanted to give it a try anyway. It was good and tender. The champagne "gravy" had a twang to it and John didn't like it at all. I ended up eating all of the potatoes. The croissant was so good. It was nice and crispy on the outside and the goat cheese was delicious. I'd order the beignet and the croissant again for sure. The duck? Maybe. Just depends on if I were hungry enough.

Now, it was time to use our lightning lane pass for Ratatouille!

IMG_4351.JPEG

You can see the rain clouds were still hanging around. It had sprinkled on us when we were eating our goodies from France but, so far, no more strong showers.

I'll throw in some more mostly sucky pictures that I took while on the ride.

The couple that we rode with were about our age and they were first timers. They laughed the whole time they were on the ride. I love experiencing something for the first time with others even if they didn't know that they were bringing us joy.

We left France and started the walk over to the United Kingdom. That's where I purchased a Mary Poppins tea pot. When I wrote about the purchase earlier, I didn't have a picture but I do now. I like to change out my kitchen and dining room decor every month or so but, with things being the way they are with Mama, I haven't changed them in a long time. I took care of that this weekend. I used a silver tray that I found at an antique store here in town, the Mary Poppins teapot, china that I inherited from my aunt, and a few little things from Hobby Lobby to create a table setting. It's a little bit Disney and a whole lot of meaningful.

IMG_5213.JPEG

After purchasing the teapot, we walked towards Future World but stopped to take pictures of some of the topiaries.
