Wanna Drive 811 miles to Disney? Tomorrow? Another Mickeystoontown Report FINISHED! 2/14/25!

How the heck did I do that when I was half asleep?

As I was saying, I usually take pictures of our food but I forgot to snap one of John's burger. I did get our pizza and dessert though.

Oh and I took a picture of this huge cool light fixture. Hunter and Tabitha (our son and daughter in law) were looking at similar ones on a much smaller scale. I took the picture and sent it to them.

I logged in the app to check the updated time for our Guardians of the Galaxy virtual queue. We were now at 3:52 p.m. Our Soarin' pass started at 2:45 p.m., Remy started at 3:05 p.m. Hum, I'd have to think about how to navigate all that.

In the meantime, we had a Spaceship Earth lightning lane to get to. We could have just done the standby line as it was super short. We were on in no time at all and selecting the country in which we live.

IMG_4233.JPEG

Our journey stopped several times and I was able to get some picture of scenes that I normally take blurry picture of.

You are going to find me saying this over and over again but Spaceship Earth is "a favorite of ours". We have lots of favorites.

Joining in! And hooray for spontaneity! My husband has gone back to college to become a licensed funeral director and embalmer. It is an intensive program, and until he finishes we have had to say goodbye to any fun stuff 🙃.

I'm sorry y'all have had a hard time with your mother ❤.

Welcome! I hope that you get some fun stuff in sooner rather than later.

Thank you! We are hoping that things will settle down soon and we can return to our halfway normal life.

"I could just go from here to there eatin' all I want!"

Who was it that was asking for a John quote? Here the first one for you.

After riding Spaceship Earth we leisurely walked over to The Land. Today was a "don't get in any hurry" day. Remember that when I post about something stupid crazy I did a little later.

We had a lightning lane for Soarin' but it wasn't quite time to enter the queue. I looked at the wait time for Living with the Land and it was 5 minutes. What? I'll take that wait time any day.

I'll go a little off topic here for a minute. Before my sister died and before my mama fell, John and I were building a storage building and we wanted it to look like a house. You see, we have a chicken coop that we built and we needed a "house" to go with it. We already had a little garden, some bee hives and a windmill. We wanted it to look like a small homestead. When we were trying to decide what color to paint the house, we thought about it and decided to make it kinda sorta themed after the Living with the Land house. The problem was, we didn't have a good picture of the house and the online pictures weren't that great. So, when we were on Living with the Land, I recorded that part of the attraction so that we could go back and look at the colors, decor, etc.

All that to say that the reason I don't have any pictures until we reach the greenhouse section is because I was busy recording the farmhouse section.

My grandparents were farmers and both John and I had gardens growing up. We have two gardens now and I enjoy spending time in them. Living with the Land is a favorite (told you I'd be saying that a lot). We were in the front row so I was able to take pictures without anybody's head or arm in them. Woo Hoo!

A really sucky attempt at capturing a picture of the hidden Mickey:

And back out into the greenhouse. During the Christmas holidays, the bow is missing and there's a big red nose on this topiary.

There were several different setups along the boat ride with some being Alice in Wonderland themed, Little Mermaid themed and Winnie the Pooh themed:

When we got to the vegetable growing area, John looked at me and said: "I could just go from here to there eatin' all I want!" to which I replied, "Yep, just give me a salt shaker and sit me down by the tomatoes!"

The boat ride was enjoyable and it's always interesting to see how Epcot grows lots of the fruits and vegetables that are served in the Walt Disney World restaurants.

WOW WOW WOW!!! You guys are AMAZING!!! The fast planning…all the driving!!!! I don’t even like to drive to the grocery store and here you are driving marathons!! Following along, can’t wait to hear more!!!

Y'all this place was busy! Every single table was full and we thought that we would have to stand around like vultures and stalk for a table. We found a cast member who had roped off a section and would only allow you in if you had your food already. We walked around a bit and there were no tables open in that section either. I turned and saw a family of three getting up and they offered their table to us. Yes, please!
Pretty typical for most of our QS experiences, I think those leaving that offer - understand the plight of the lookers. It's a rarely found generosity in "the world".

I'm so excited to read another of your TRs!
Wow, I can't believe you booked a Disney trip for the following day. That's amazing! I think I speak for everyone when I say we all wish we could do that.

But that drive. Ouch. I've got to go through Mobile this weekend, and I'm hoping the traffic isn't too bad. And my gosh, you see EVERYTHING along I75. I wish I could say I was surprised by that group you encountered.

You must share pictures of your Living with the Land inspired storage building once its complete.

Small world - my family also stayed in the Aruba building at CBR over Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for sharing your trip report.

I'm here for another trip report.

I can't believe you booked a trip on such short notice. I have a reoccurring dream where I do this and spend all my time regretting all the things I forgot and getting lost.

I think our drive from Baton Rouge is long but yours is much longer. The only time I ever did the all night driving was when I was much younger. There is no way I could do that now. You're a rock star.

A lot of your favorite rides are also our favorite rides.

Oh the traffic! I drove down for the first time in April and the traffic in South Carolina was insane!!! In fact, on the way back, Google maps had me get off the interstate and take a back road for almost an hour. I can't believe the way you powered through until 4 am!

Thank you! I am so glad that I had some shirts and ears already (now I have to buy more for November but that's okay). I don't mind driving. I love a good road trip...when there aren't 3 hour delays!

I'm always so thankful when someone lets us know when they are leaving a table and gives it to us. I try to do the same.

We were both physically and mentally exhausted so we thought about just making the three and a half hour drive to Hot Springs, Arkansas and do a little flea-marketing and dine in our favorite restaurants. Easy peasy!
I'm guessing your in the Monroe, La area?
We've drove from East TX through Beaumont to I10, Thinking next drive would be your route.

Hey! I'm so glad that you are here!

I could hardly believe that I somehow pulled off a trip to Disney just a day (actually night) before we were to check in.

Yeah, the drive was pretty brutal this time around. I hated the traffic but should have expected it due to it being Memorial Day and we had to pass all the beach exits.

I will definitely post picture of the Living with the Land house when we are done. It doesn't look just like it but we are hoping that it will at least look like it a bit. If we ever get Mama settled, we will finish it up.

YAY a new trip report!
Welcome! Welcome!

We may have passed one another and didn't even know it!

We went into the trip knowing that it was going to be more about getting away that doing and seeing a lot.

Yeah, at least you guys don't have to drive down Mississippi. That does cut off several hours of driving.
A lot of your favorite rides are also our favorite rides.
I pretty much love all of them. There are some that John rides to appease me.

I hate driving in busy traffic! As soon as I know that I have to go through Jackson, Mississippi and then onto I75, I start stressing out.

I like driving on the backroads and we sometimes go the longer way home due to traffic on I75. I'd rather go the long way home and actually keep moving than take the shorter way and be at a standstill.

Yay! I love your TR's! My dream would be to plan a trip for the next day then hop in the car. The driving sure doesn't sound fun but you powered thru. With all the stress, so nice you could go to your happy place. Can't wait to read more!

I'm so glad you are back for another report! Planning a last minute trip like this is so out of my element but we were so glad that I did.

"That purple thing is stupid!"

Once done with Living with the Land, we walked out into the Florida heat. I'll take the Florida heat over the Louisiana heat because we have more humidity with our heat. There was a food cart not far from the entrance to The Land so we stopped for one of their Flower & Garden Festival non-alcoholic drinks (I forget what it was but I know that the flower was edible and it had a sliver/slice of pineapple on it.) and a pretzel. We found a spot off to the side and near the water to savor our treats.
IMG_4273.JPEG

We also talked about our dilemma. We received a notification that Remy was down but we could use our pass to any attraction we wanted. Our Guardians virtual queue time had changed. If Remy came back up, we wanted to ride it. We also wanted to see World Showcase. However, we didn't want to go to World Showcase and have to hotfoot it back to Future World. We had a tough decision to make. Do we bounce all over the park and it be hectic or do we cancel Guardians and spend the rest of the day leisurely strolling around World Showcase? Cancel Guardians, are we crazy? I never said we weren't. Remember, we are the ones that made a 800+ mile drive to Disney to go on a trip that was booked the night before. Life's about tough choices.....we made our choice and it was to cancel Guardians.

If we weren't going back to Disney in November and we didn't have multiple days at Epcot planned, we probably would have kept it. This trip wasn't about doing and seeing it all but we did want to stroll around World Showcase. I didn't feel super good about our choice before I exited the virtual queue but once I did, I was pretty happy about it.

Something that John wasn't happy about was my choice for the next attraction. I mean, we were right beside Journey Into Your Imagination, so we had to go see Figment. That's when John said: "That purple thing is stupid!". Forgive him people. Forgive him. He is clueless as to the following Figment a/k/a "that purple thing" has.

Come along and ride with us:
