Wand Upgrade?

My family and I visited the wizarding world of Harry Potter shortly after it opened several years ago. During this visit we bought my son a plain old wand at Olivanders.

Since Diagon Alley opened, they have introduced new wands that are now supposedly interactive with some elements of the Diagon Alley area. I have heard that there may be a way to "upgrade" his old wand and trade it in on one of the interactive wands for a discount, rather than buying a whole new $50 wand.

Does anyone know if this is true? Or am I just dreaming?

I have heard that as well...it was a $10 difference when we were there. We never tried, as the wands we had bought didn't have an interactive version at that time and my kids liked the old ones they picked.
Hopefully someone who has tried it can let you know for sure.

I asked about exchanging the old wands for the new ones last year and was told they do not exchange old wands for new interactive wands. We talked to the manager and she did give us 20% off the new interactive wand.

Oh that's a bummer. Was hoping to save some $$!

the only time that i read about the exchanging of the wands was sometime back.

the first wands that were sold, were not interactive.
when the next batch of wands came out and were interactive, UO did swap the original ones for the new ones as long as the box was returned with it.

Once the interactive wands were on all shelves, they stopped the practice of an even trade.

The interactive wands are well worth it imo. There are lots of spells in both harry potter areas and some hidden ones not on the map too.

If the interactive one stops working they will 'fix' i.e exchnage it in my experience. The same wand has done 2 trips and will go with us again in May.
