"As of June 1, Cinderella's Golden Carrousel will experience a name change. The ride will soon be known as the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.
Disney has announced the change on their website and added a bit of a back story to the name change. The story tells of Prince Charming building a training device for him to practice his jousting skills. The villagers were so awed by the device that Prince Charming decided to have one built near the castle so that the villagers could have the chance to practice their skills as well.

The carrousel has a real history behind it as well. The ride was saved from Olympic Park, an abandoned amusement park in New Jersey, and Disney restore the 1917 carrousel to new condition."

While I appreciate the thought someone put into thinking something up, that's just plain dumb. and unnecessary. and finally, who cares? I don't care what carousel is named...we always just call it "the carousel."

Hmmm,
Maybe they are just trying to boy it up with all the princess stuff coming. I would think that Cinderella would still be the better name to have just on name recognition alone.
The plot makes me wonder if they are trying to spice up the ride with added elements?
A ring pull maybe? Maybe little lances for the boys to joust with? Last one standing gets knighted?

I agree, it sounds just like they're trying to make it less girly. How man 7 year old boys want to come back from Disney World and brag about riding Cinderella's Carousel.

At the same time, anything associated with Prince Charrming ain't exactly "macho":rotfl:

Exactly.

Which begs the question - this little problem is just now occurring to anyone within Disney? They didn't know princesses skewed toward girls when they first started planning all this?

However, between the princess-centric Fantasyland attractions and that boy wizard up the interstate at Universal, a name change to an existing attraction is actually expected to make any difference?

It wasn't that long ago that the Sword in the Stone show ended. Maybe they will revive another "show" with Prince Charming??

Maybe something from Cinderella is coming to the new Fantacy Land. Maybe they do not want 2 "rides" with Cinderella. If you look around at the kids that do BBB, she is probably 2 to 1 and the 1 is all other costumes added together. If they are adding an Ariel ride, why not a Cinderella?
.. (I have no knowledge just a thought.)

Does Cinderella still get to have a horse with a golden ribbon tied around the tail?
