Walt Disney World tickets will all have expiration dates

I have a trip planned for fall 2018 which I will use my AP towards. As of now, I am tentatively planning to take my girls with me so I bought 5-day park hoppers for them. We also have an extended-family trip planned (more definitively) for 2019 so I also bought 7-day park hoppers for that trip. I bought them through UCT but had the actual tickets sent to the house. Since the trips are so far out, things can change. UCT allows you to return unused tickets for a refund (minus a restocking fee) so I figured this was my best bet. I rarely link our passes to MDE until about 7 months out anyways, unless it is an AP.

We ordered a set of 5-day park hoppers and 7-day park hoppers this week from UCT. I also have a set of 7-day park hoppers with water parks that I bought last year during the DVC sale. I mark on each ticket with a sharpie so I remember what is what and then place them in our home safe. When we get closer to our trip, I will link them in MDE so we can book our fast passes. I don't see a need to link them right away, but I understand that some people are worried about their tickets being lost.

I ordered my DD the 5d Hopper w/ waterparks and more from Parksavers yesterday. It is less than they have the 5day hopper. The water parks and more I was able to get was still the old system. If you are looking for hoppers from one of the big resellers it may be worth the look.

Not planning on another trip until 2019, but bit the bullet and bought the buy 4 get 3 - 7 day tix from UCT. Not planning on connecting to MDE until I know for sure when we're going - I don't really trust them to have control over the tix and decide to impose an expiration through an IT maneuver. (Yeah, i'm paranoid like that.) Wasn't planning on spending so much right before our cruise, but I'd rather hedge our price vs 2 more increases before our next trip.

Yikes. That's good to know. Is there anyway to unlink tickets?

I guess I could transfer them to one of my family members linked with me and then have them transfer them back after using other tickets. Though I don't see this as a problem ax we generally go for a week

Just create phantom family members (that don't exist) and add them to your MDE account and then link those tickets to those people until you use your other ones.

I'd love to get tickets now, but how many day we need will depend on what time we fly home. Can I get 3 day tickets now and add on a day later if needed?

Sorry to dredge-up an old thread, but I just looked at this and had no idea that WDW tickets now have expiration dates.

Just to confirm, though, I have 3, 3-day tickets dated 11/19/2016 that I bought in January of 2017. They don't have any printed expiration date on them as far as I can see. Are they still good?

Thanks for any help.

Yes..I bought my tickets in January 2017 and they do not have expiration dates so yours should be good too:thumbsup2.

My friend received a gift Disney ticket that says it Expires February 29, 2019. She is going in April. Is this ticket useless to her??

OK...I read the sticky....the ticket does have value. Whew.

No, she would just need to pay the price difference between the expired ticket and a new one. The original purchase price of the expired ticket would be applied to the purchase of a new one.
The tickets sticky has all the info on that: https://www.disboards.com/threads/all-about-tickets-upgrades.3570721/

ETA: Ah, I see you found the sticky now :)
