Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Hello Swan/Dolphin People! My husband and I are kicking off our return trip to WDW with a weekend at the Dolphin 5-7DEC. I'm so excited to stay at such a pretty resort. I'm hoping it's all decked out for our Christmas trip. This will be our first trip to Dolphin and our first trip back to WDW in almost 8 years. ALOT has changed. I just wanted to say thank you for such a great thread with all the people willing to help answer any questions.
Hi Tina. Great to see you!!!

Well, you and hubby sure do deserve another trip to WDW. You will really enjoy the Dolphin, great resort.

Here are a couple links on Christmastime at the S/D.....

The second thread is from 2010, but still current.

And the dancing lights are almost like a mini Osborne light show, quite unique.

Not sure if these are of help to you, Tina....

Have a great time planning, and going there. Enjoy.

Thank you so much, Dan. I appreciate all the links. Looks beautiful and very close to the Beach Club for next leg of our vacation.

For anyone that is reading, Dolphin is booking at discount during specific weekends during holidays. The "code" is Santa and makes the rooms $159/night. Very reasonable.

Nice to wake up and see that the name of this thread was changed to Swan & Dolphin Hotel Questions and Information from "social club". Good job by the mods and admins of the board to respond to posters concerns with the name change. Now, if only the thread would be moved back to Resorts, from Resorts Community Board...

Hi all, thanks for all the great info in this thread! We have a stay at Swan coming up in December and after reading here I called the Swan to add my husband's name to the reservation. I was able to link the reservation in MDE but am getting the "Temporarily unable to retrieve additional details about this reservation." Not sure whether I should talk to Swan or Disney about that.

My reservation confirmation email says 2 adults, but doesn't have my husband's name anywhere on it. On MDE it also says 2 guests, but names aren't listed. Should I be seeing his name somewhere if they did in fact add it to the reservation?

Do we incur the resort fee rate at which we booked or is it effective for the dates of stay?

I'm now 5 nights in to an 8 night stay and although I am enjoying the holiday I would not recommend the Swan for anyone used to the Deluxe Disney Hotels. In the main, I have found the staff to be indifferent and quite sullen. I wonder if they prefer the more corporate guest to the hoiday maker ? That is unfortunatley the feeling I get. I tried to check in at 3pm Saturday and was told the room was not ready. I came back again at 4pm and it was still not ready. Having left Scotland some 17 hours earlier I was desperate to get myself and daughter into any room available so took whatever they had which did not include a room with the balcony I had booked. To be fair they agreed to move me the next day which was fine. However, I was subjected to exactly the same situation. Arrived at the desk at 3pm to find the room not ready for my move. Tried again at 5pm and still not ready. Was eventually moved at 6pm. The breakfast from Garden Grove was also very poor quality and a complete waste of money. On the plus side, the rooms are nice and the pool area is lovely. However, overall its not somewhere I would return to.

We are arriving MCO at 930pm and taking Tiffany Town Car directly to the Dolphin. We are only there for a quick Food & Wine 4 day adventure so we are just taking carryons and expect to be arriving at the Dolphin by 10:30. Will the gift shop be closed by then? Also, if we want to have a drink and relax for a bit, at that time of night, is the Boardwalk the best option?

TIA,

Tom

The lounges are all open until 11 PM. The Boardwalk locations are open later.

Click on the lounge tab at top.

The Disney shops in each resort close at 11 PM, the other shops at 10 PM.

Thanks, Dan!!! I can't click on the lounge tab as our work filters don't allow access to alcohol, tobacco, firearms, pornography nor even Disney itself. But, I can get on here.

I'm sorry to hear your room wasn't ready at the usual 3:00 check-in time. Since you arrived during the opening weekend of the Food & Wine Festival, I imagine the Swan and Dolphin are very full.

I have eaten the breakfast buffet at the Garden Grove twice, most recently in December 2014, and I thought the food was quite good. However, I give the edge to the breakfast buffet at Fresh in the Dolphin.

No call back from Lisette. I've been out of town and just got back. Still the same issue with my MDE linking to 4 reservations and too many guests. Going to try calling the Dolphin reservation desk again.

Always seems like some glitch that is hard to take care of on every trip, I know that is the way here also. Usually it is with Disney on some matter. Hope it is cleared up soon, Sharona.

Yes, do try for Lisette again. I've spoken with her late afternoon/early evening (EST) on two occasions so that may be her regular shift.

Just called the Swolphin reservation line 407 934-4000 and spoke with Kay who told me that she could fix it. She said that I called SPG the first time when I really should have called her line to add the names and they would have told me not necessary to list individual names, just correct number of adults and children. She will get rid of all the other stuff and resend to Disney with correct number of people and it will be updated in 24-48 hours. I'll check it then! Wish me luck. 68 days and counting!

I am chaperoning a student group that arrives at the Dolphin November 11-14. My family are long time Disney fans and usually stay at the Wilderness Lodge. I've never stayed in the Epcot area, what advice can you give us? Anything special happening in this resort area during those dates? We will be there for the High School Journalism convention and have 2 1/2 days in the parks. I can't wait!!

Great news! I did finally get a call back from Lisette this evening and when I told her that I had called in and spoken to Kay the day before and that I was told 24-48 hours Lisette asked me to log in and check it now and miracle of miracles it is correct. Just as Kay indicated, no need to list the individual names, just be sure the ressie has the correct number of adults and children then match them up against your friends and family list! Tadaaaah - we are linked and ready to book FP when our 60 day window opens - well, we will be as soon as I buy our tickets from UT. Did you all see my post on the other boards about the Amex/Undercover Tourist offer? $30 credit from Amex when you spend $150 at UT. You have to see the offer on your Amex account and save it to your card(s). I was able to open up 3 windows and link it to all 3 of my Amex cards so we will save $90 on our tickets! Having a good day...

Now to figure out our FP game plan!!!!!!

That's great that it is that way now. :thumbsup2 No more need to worry about spelling, etc. Nice.

Most helpful post of the day. I was wondering how to link our ressie.

AND - great to know that I can get more than 1 Amex credit! We have 2 cards. I was wondering. Thanks for the tidbit.
