Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

We are excited to stay at the Swan for the first time this December. It's also our first trip with FP+. This thread has been enormously helpful with booking the Swan and getting it linked to MDE.

Here's the question - we are a family of 5, split into 2 rooms (requested connecting). Both booked under DH's name for his SPG status, but 2 different confirmation #s. I tried to combine them, but SPG couldn't do it. When I booked the rooms, for simplicity sake, I noted 1 adult in 1 room, and 1 adult, 3 kids in the other in case the note about connecting rooms didn't show up on the account, to avoid any issues with having only 3 underage children in a room.

After I linked the 2 reservations to MDE though, we're listed as 2 adults in room 1, and 1 adult and 3 children in room 2. There's an alert saying one gues is unassigned.

So is this a Swan problem or a MDE problem? Or is it not a problem at all and I can just leave the extra person empty? I just don't want to find out theres an issue when I'm trying to book FP+ at midnight.

I am having the exact same problem. Disney's tech department told me on Thursday that they will take care of it. I gave them the reservation numbers. They are calling the Swan. I am supposed to receive an email from "Bernie" when it is resolved. It's definitely a Swan problem not cooperating well with MDE. I will post back when I receive the email or call back tomorrow if I don't receive one.

I just spent 2 hours on the phone with Disney tech dept. Unfortunately the reservation will not link with the empty spot. I hope you can simply call the Swan, press 0 and link to in house reservations (after 9 am tomorrow) and have them adjust your numbers correctly, have them put the correct names on the correct reservations (as you desire them) and have them resubmit to Disney. My problem is much more complex with them layering 3 reservations into one with the same number somehow and Disney Tech support has never seen this. The Swan insists they see it correct on their side. But they now have my rooms for 4 people requiring 10 guests in order to link it. In house reservations closed early today so I have to try again tomorrow and have a conference call between the three of us. This should not be so difficult.

Thanks for responding. Curious to see how your issue turns out. I'm not sure I understand exactly what the problem is - you lost me when saying to you want to layer 3 reservations into one - but if it helps you at all, the CSR I spoke to at Swan said Disney can't see what Swan sees. Earlier back in this thread, people said they had problems having names they assigned to reservations at the Swan carry over to MDE. So, anticipating an issue, I called Swan before ever trying to link anything. Sure enough, I was able to link the reservations w/o an issue, and I then assigned names to the 2 reservations on MDE after everything was linked. But the 2nd mystery adult popped up AFTER all this. I'm just afraid something will happen down the road - like when trying to book FP+ - since I keep getting these alerts and it looks like my reservation is incomplete. Good luck to you and I plan to call tech support his week. I'll post back if they are able to do anything helpful.

When I attempt to link my Swam reservations, this is what I, and Disney see.

It should say Swan once.

Then it wants 7 additional people linked that they couldn't automatically match for my room of 4 people. image.jpgimage.jpg
If anyone has had a similar problem and had it solved please help.

MDE tech tells me that Swan needs to cancel and rebook. But my dates for part are now sold out and if they release the room they say we won't get it back?!?!

I don't have any answers for these MDE questions. But, maybe also ask the questions on the Theme Park planning board. However, ask the question (including the title), as an MDE question, not a S/D/resort question. In the post itself, you can mention the S/D for sure, but word it mostly as an MDE question, which it actually is. If you do ask as a resort question/title, you risk having the thread moved back over here to the Resort board.

Ok gotcha. Its clearly a MDE issue and you shouldn't have to risk losing your reservation. Unacceptable!

Thanks for the suggestion - will try if I don't get anywhere calling

Hallelujah! It took 3 more phone calls but the Swan fixed the problem. It was actually an SPG booking error. I finally spoke to a wonderful manager at In House Reservations at the Swan, Lisette, who very efficiently fixed the problem, submitted to Disney, and my reservations linked just now. It took a long time to figure out where the problem was and one great manager to work on it until she got it fixed. I'm so relieved.

Great update!!!!

We are staying at Swan for the first time this Septmeber. I was disappointed to learn magical express does not work with this hotel. I read that we can either take a cab or use the shuttle however the person I spoke with said it can take 1.5 hours to get to the hotel. Is this true? Is it worth a private taxi? Also, is there a breakfast cafeteria? And more importantly, do they have mickey waffles? Thanks!:earsgirl:

We either rent a car and drop it off at the Dolphin or we book a limo service that includes a stop at a grocery store. It should not take 1.5 hours from leaving the airport to arrival at the hotel. More like 1/2 hour. There is a breakfast cafeteria at the Dolphin but not at the Swan. You will have to walk over to the Dolphin for that. Swan does have a coffee bar that has some ready-made breakfast items.

We have done the Mears Shuttle when staying at a non-DME resort - and we have it booked for our trip last month. Our last trip we stopped at two other hotels along the way -- all in the Downtown Disney area. Once we got on the shuttle, it was 45 minutes to an hour and we were at the hotel.

Tom

For our party of 5, it's cheaper to do a one way car rental of a mini van from MCO to the Dolphin and then back again than to take a shuttle or car service. Plus we can make as many stops as we want and no stops to drop off or pick up others!

I think if you're a smaller party, it may be a better deal to take the shuttle.

We had the same exact issue. With the Swan, instead of it replacing the data in MDE when a change to our reservation was made, it showed up as 4 different reservations wanting us to link 10 people. The person at Disney put me on hold, called the Swan, had them clear up the data and within 24 hours, we had 1 reservation for 4 people. I did have to manually link my kids (I had 2 SD_GUEST... spots), but it was simple to assign them to my kids. Keep calling Disney until you get a knowledgeable person.!

Yes I reported back that the problem was solved. Lisette at the Swan even called back yesterday to verify that the issue has been fixed. Disney was unable to fix it until Swan got it right on their end.

Our MDE is all setup...Swan reservations and passes linked, etc. I am nearing the time frame to make ADR's. It is my understanding that Disney owned resort guests can make ADR's 180 + 10 days out but the plus 10 is not available for Swan guests. Is this correct? So, for a 7 night stay I will need to make ADR's 7 times, at each day's 180 mark.

One credible poster on the resort boards reported being able to use the +10 benefit at the S/D. I don't know how she did it.

However, the prevailing wisdom is that +10 is not available. The Length of Stay privilege is limited to FP+.

Thanks! So disappointing. We're there to celebrate graduations and wanted to go to the California Grill for fireworks and celebrating! I doubt that there will be any reservations left for a Friday or Saturday night 180 days out, but we'll give it a try!

I haven't had any plans for a WDW trip this year, but after hearing this is the last year for the Osborne Lights...hmmm...maybe it's time to take a look at the rates at the S/D.

Edited to add that I haven't seen this thread in quite awhile. I didn't realize it was moved from the regular "resorts" forum. :guilty:
