Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

I booked Dolphin directly through Marriott website months ago for Jan 3-7: non refundable and what I thought was pay in full rate. I have the reservation number and it has linked fine to my MDE app, however my credit card has yet to be charge. Is this normal?
I’ve had my reservation for months and I check in on 12/31. It just now charged me

Curious if there is anyone that eats GF that can tell me what the quick service options are like at the Dolphin. I saw the the fountain has gluten free bread options for their sandwiches/burgers, can you order to go from there? Anything at Fuel? Would love to have a sense of where we can grab a quick meal at the resort before our trip next week!

I don’t eat GF, but I have seen people order to go from the Fountain while I was eating there.

Can an Annual Passholder book two rooms - 1 for themself and 1 for two non-AP members? Or do both rooms need to have an AP member as the lead on the reservation in order to get the AP rate?

Blanking out-can we park at S/D for the day and walk to Epcot if we are not hotel guests but will be dining at Swan?

I have booked a few times through Marriott.... often they don't charge anything till a few days before check-in. That's not always the case, but more often than not it has been.
Having a similar situation as OP @Juventus and wondering if I could call Marriott or in-house reservations to do a manual charge? My trip is in 2 1/2 weeks, but I have a Chase Offer that would apply if I get charged by 12/31.

WOW, is the word out now about D/S/R? I've been searching for rooms for dates a few weeks before Easter (not Easter Week) and finally found something though my USBank Flex Perks account... 6 nights is over $8000....

On the Bonvoy site it's just as bad, even with the AP rate.... per night cost drop significantly as you get into Easter Week... this is weird.

Is this normal? When I have booked in the past, it isn't anywhere CLOSE to that.... that's even more than the YC, BC and BWI (and even Rivera) for the same time. HOLY MOLY!!

Sounds like a Convention or multiple Conventions may have reserved a large block of rooms.

Marriott uses dynamic pricing so as the number of rooms available drop for a date range the higher the price. Most Conventions or Groups don't use the Swan, Swan Reserve and Dolphin on weekends and most holidays.

I don't eat GF but have ordered to go from The Fountain many times. If there is someone seating people, just tell them you want to order to go and they will send you to the counter to sit and order.

Those few weeks before Easter are peak spring break and so most of the rooms are probably booked already. Because of the dynamic pricing the last rooms left probably go for crazy high rates. My upcoming trip shot up from $220/night to over $1000/night a month or two ago before selling out recently. Once Easter hits I always find the crowds go down a lot as Easter is typically the latest spring break for schools. Definitely some rooms could be held back in blocks for something, I'd keep checking as things are always changing. But no...those prices are not normal! Even my room during Princess HM weekend is under $300/night including fees with the AP rate, and that's a peak weekend for sure!

@jlundeen what Dave said is correct about the dynamic pricing. But, if they are holding rooms for conventions/conference rooms they have a drop date when the group will cease getting the conference rate and those rooms return to availability. Those rooms might also be pushed to some of the discount sites, so keep checking and hopefully you can snag a good deal.

Prices just went insane for my time in mid-March at Swolphin. Noticed my SF at Universal booking is $100 higher for my two nights than when I booked it a month ago. I think they’re playing some games all over town for post-Xmas bookings.

S/D/R probably did a market evaluation and realized they were pricing at AOA/POP levels. I am using points for my Feb trip but the cash rate when I booked months ago was very good. Now I see the rates have gone up to moderate resort levels.
