Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Nah I’m with Dave, that’s about normal this far out. It usually goes down as you get closer but I like to book refundable rates to lock in a room and just do the rebooking game when I see it drop.
I like to do this as well, but for the first time, I will be reserving a combined points/cash stay. Can anyone tell me how that works if you need to rebook when the price drops? I am trying to decide if I should just hold out until the price (hopefully) goes down.

I am honestly not sure. I do this with award flights a lot but I'm not sure if Bonvoy works the same way where you just get the difference in points refunded.

Glad to see they are finally allowing to book with cash and points again on same reservations. It was such a hassle making the reservations separately. I can’t answer you question though

For stays using only points, yes you can just modify to the lower points rate and they refund the difference in points. I've done that many times - however watch your account because if the website is being glitchy I've had to email to make sure they get deposited. For the most part the refunded points show back in your account immediately though. I've never tried this specifically with a cash/points reservation however.

Hello! Hoping someone might have some insight into this ticket question:

I just booked a Swan resort/ticket package for march 20-24. I did the same type of package last year, and I received my physical ticket cards at check in. It was fine to link the tickets to MDE on my arrival day, because I would not need to make genie+ reservations until each park day AM.

However, in order to book lightning lane reservations 7 days prior to arrival, how would I go about linking the tickets ahead of time? Maybe call Swan directly....or email disney ticketing?

Last year, I learned that it does not show the tickets linked in MDE until arrival date.

Thanks!

Update live from Dolphin. Just checked in. Alana Ward front desk from Dolphin states that room updates at Swan are complete, however, no refurbishments have been made to Dolphin rooms and there is no plan in at least in the next year (as of now) for any updates to be done.

I will check at Swan front desk another day to in fact confirm refurbishments are complete.

There is def construction noise heard throughout day at Dolphin. Not sure what they are doing exactly. But I can hear it. Hasn’t been an issue at night to mornings.
Thanks for your live updates. The Dolphin is working on the Convention Center Expansion since it was officially announced. We just don't have any information on the resort rooms so any information you can provide for either the Dolphin or the Swan will be very much appreciated.

Okay, official update. Swan room refurbs are 100% completed. This has now been confirmed by 3 sources. The next phase is the roof, which will be done soon. They are ahead of schedule, so are off this month and will restart next month.

Convention center expansion at Dolphin is ongoing.

Thanks for the update! If the cost is not too much higher, this may inspire us to reserve Swan later this year rather than Dolphin. I love Dolphin, but our room last month while clean had a musty smell, so it may be time to check out the refurbed rooms at Swan.

We had the same experience. We've always loved our stays at the Dolphin, and I've been outspoken about loving it, but the last one was pretty rough. Fingers crossed they're going to do those rooms, too!

Heard in your room or throughout the entire resort like also in the lobby area? (I'd ask about the pool but something tells me that isn't at the top of your to do list this week)

No, not in my room. And I’m on the side with construction. Just walking through corridors on west side where construction is happening in convention rooms. When I asked about any other construction they did not mention anything about the pool and said nothing else planned for the next year as far as they know is convention center only.

I really enjoyed my room location at the Dolphin. I think now that I’ve stayed at both I do prefer the Swan side though. I have stayed in the refurbished room at Swan and it was nice to not have carpet and just felt brighter and more modern. I also like the more low key lobby and proximity to the pool.
