Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Hello, I need some advices. We (2 adults) are booked at Riverside for 2 weeks in early august. With the ap discount, all fees included, the Dolphin would be the same price. We love the Riverside but the deluxe perks and the location make it appealing. What would you do?
Could you consider a split stay? If it's a two week stay, maybe the charm of Riverside and the ability to take the boat to DS for half the stay and then move over to the Dolphin to spend time at Epcot and HS? Just a thought. It's a long enough stay to enjoy both resorts.

Did Florida get enough rain recently that they restarted the boats to DS? They weren't running a few months ago.

Yes they were able to reopen last month on June 16th after the wet season rain pattern began. They will now be good until at least May 2025.

Dave just curious about the May 2025... was their canal system that low, do they have a reservoir that needs to be replenished? I was a bit shocked to hear the water level was to low to run boats. Could that impact Crescent lake around S/D & Epcot too?

I would stay at the S/D/SR You'll love it.
Will I miss the full Disney bubble by switching or is the almost $800 in savings too good to give up the extra Disney details?
Overall a better resort complex, plus the $800 in your pocket to do quite a bit with.

I'd keep the $800 in my pocket and skip the Disney theming... Especially with how close S&D are to two of the parks!

Strong rates with the new incentives if you're okay with the room types they are including.... They often limit the kinds of rooms available for the promotions...

AAA discount also improved... our trip went down $50/night today...

The Sassagoula river (man-made waterway) is only connected to Blake and Willow lakes (man-made) and it is very shallow. It has had low water levels multiple years when the rainy season is late in starting.

Normally rains start by the 2nd week of May, this year it was a couple of weeks late in starting. It does not take long to reach a navigable level once the rain pattern starts.

No impact to Crescent lake, World Showcase lagoon, and the canal to HS as all 3 are deep enough to not be impacted since opening of the area.

Just looked at rates for Swan h currently booked at Dolphin) and want to switch resorts. Is there a way to modify my Dolphin reservation over to the Swan or do I need to cancel current and book Swan separately? Is it better to call?

Could you please report back on this? I am considering the same but hadn't done it yet because I didn't know if it would mean refunding the previous deposit and paying a new one, which isn't necessarily a problem, but I don't know that I have such a strong preference for Swan that I feel like doing it.

Just called and switched/modified our reservation. Did not need to cancel they just modified it and no new deposit. We’re paying $18 more/nt but we booked a balcony room. It was very easy and they probably have the most human-sounding bot I’ve ever heard. I thought I was talking to a real person for a minute!🤪😂

The Swan is 1/2 the size of the Dolphin and the beds are Queen vs Double beds in the Dolphin. There are 2 sinks in the Swan guest rooms. One in the bathroom and one outside the bathroom door with a large mirror and lighting (much cooler than the bathroom).

The 2 sinks are definitely appealing, but my daughter loves seeing the huge Christmas tree in the Dolphin lobby as we come in and out of the hotel. :)

@AussieFan8 if you're going in December I'd say you're very likely to get a renovated room, I think they should be done by then. You might use the app an text them to see if they know when they will be done with renovations.
