Well, today Saturday July 19th, Disneyland is not using the VQ.
The app says Disneyland may use the VQ from time to time. You must be inside Disneyland to join the VQ if it is in use.
The standby line maybe in use right at park opening. If the VQ is in use, after all groups have been called, standby line maybe used.
Check the attraction to see if VQ or standby line is being used.

The VQ is being phased out.

When I looked at the app Friday afternoon, it said the virtual queue was not being used. I do not know if it was used in the morning.

When I was walking around the park on Friday (18th) it didn't seem like there was much of a line for this. I was a bit surprised but thought perhaps it was because VQ was working well. Perhaps there's just not as much interest as we all thought?

On Friday, the 7Am VQ was used and the 12PM VQ was not used anf ater all the groups from the 7AM were called - standby line was used.

I think demand on July 17th was high but the demand is waning and I am thinking many guests did not want to plan or divide their day around the VQ for this specific attraction.

It is very much like Lincoln. Guests are so excited to enter the park, see the characters who are out and about, and walk down Main Street, that they walk right past it.

Edit to add: If they enter the tunnel on their left (by City Hall), they miss it completely.
