This may not be news to anyone else, but I was not aware that Walmart will match any local competitors printed ads on all **groceries**. Maybe it's new or maybe I've missed this info in the past.

They ran a full page ad today in the Chicago Trib stating this.

I think it is awesome that I can now just hit Walmart to pick up the good deals on name brands, produce, meats, deli, etc. as oppossed to running to several different stores to get the best prices.

We have 2 Super Walmarts that have full service grocery stores in them within 5 minuites of our home so this will be a great time and gasoline saver!

Just wanted to share this with others that may not know this already.:)

wow that's great! mine will match ads on groceries, except b1g1 items or store brands.

It is a great thing. There are really only 2 drawbacks- They don't price match B1G1 or any % off sales. Otherwise it's worth the time to run through competitors ads and get all your shopping done at one place. (btw, my Walmart has matched places like Target, Best Buy, Walgreens, etc on things like electronics, toys and other non-grocery type items too. YMMV)

And remember that you the store must be within (5 - 10) miles of the Walmart. So if you do not have a Target in your area they will not price match Target sales.

yep they actually have been for many years that I can remember..

I price them all the time for groceries, gifts, etc..

my favorite is price matching on Black Friday.. Since the deals they advertise in their ad for that day are generally put on crates and guarded until 6 am, I am able to get the items I want to price match and put them in my buggy and then get in line for their items..

It cuts down on me having to go to so many other stores that day..

I didnt realize that.. but I guess that makes sense..

I have one closeby so I havent had to deal with that..

Thanks for that tip though..

Our WM won't price match if you need a "store card" to get the advertised price.

I know this may sound great for some people, but WalMart has put many smaller stores out of business.

I don't get why people like if they match the price, maybe offer 10% additional off the other store's price.

I really try to stay away from WalMart, now Target a large store, however they donate about 5% to the community.

Sorry just my feelings

I'm with Disneyqueen. I avoid wal-mart like the plauge. I have to go sometimes if I forget to go early enough to the store, and I don't want Kari to be mad at me.

But especially here in Orlando, there's just so much cheap disney stuff, people that don't know how to help you, and even at 2am you still have to wait in an hour long line in the express lane.

I get amazing deals at Publix, plus my coupons. With friendly people, short lines, free samples (I love the daily recipes they do). And the fresh produce and meats are so much nicer looking. And there's always some one in the meat department if I need something divided.
I've shopped at Target like once for groceries, which wasn't bad. But thier deals just don't compare.

Our store donates gift cards, grants, and merchandise to non-profits in our community.

Our store also matches B1G1 if the price is in the ad. Ex: B1G1 save $5.98, we override each item to $2.98. Easy peasy. Can't match % off, since the original price is usually nowhere to be found in the ad.

I knew they price matched competitor prices but didn't realize they matched grocery items. I am not a fan of Walmart and usually only go there when I need a household item, but if they are going to match grocery sales then it may help cut down on my running around. I do agree with a pp, I can usually get better deals at my grocery store using coupons (that tehy double) and buying whats on sale. Sometimes Walmrt beats their prices, like the bread I like, its $1.99 a loaf at Walmart and $3.59 at my grocery store, thats a big difference when you go through at least 2 a week.

Ive been ad matching at wal mart since we moved out on our own 9.5 year ago! I love that they ad match, they get stricter on it but I can understand that. They will match prices if the store is within our town without the ad, but if it is not within our town, we need the ad. They wont match b1g1 or % off but thats not big deal to me. We have ad matched everything from food and drinks to toys, bed sheets and oil changes.

Our store here also donates a lot of money and time to our community, schools, elderly, veterans, shelters, etc. We havent lost any local stores over this here.

I agree with the black friday ad matches. We kick butt at wal mart that day! We usually only have to run to the mall then for a few things after we do the wal mart ad matchin. Its great!

Our Wal Marts have priced matched groceries for years, and I still don't waste my time there. There are too many stipulations, and you still pay too much for the items not on sale anywhere.

I tried Christmas price matching a few years ago and gave up when I realized that WM pulls products off the shelf that the other stores are selling "too cheap" so they don't have to PM the item.

Another thing you have to watch for is the size. The size has to be the exact same or they won't price match.

I noticed that years ago too. Fry's (Kroger) used to put a 24 pack of Pepsi products on sale for $3.99 every 2-3 months or so. Wal-Mart always had them in stock until the Fry's sale went on, then all the sudden they are no where to be found. It was highly annoying.

I do have to say that in the last year or so, I've not seen that happen, even when it was a loss leader sale. Not sure if they have all changed or if it's just the Wal-Mart that I go to. :confused3

FYI, Target is price matching local competitor's ads as well. Even on Black Friday I'm told! :thumbsup2
