When walking to the Disney Studios from the Yacht and Beach Club, where does the walkway originate and does it follow the waterway? Approximately how long is the walk? Thanks in advance for any help. :)

You can get to it by crossing the bridge to the BWV, it runs behind the BWV and along the river. It is about a 10 to 15min walk depending on who you are with. My DH seems to always be in a hurry so it takes us about 10mins.

Once you get to the Studios, it comes out near the buses.

This walkway is a great place for pictures with Mickey's Hat in the background. We've got a couple of really good ones from the last trip.

That's not a long walk at all! It takes me 10 minutes to walk from my car in the MGM parking lot to the entrance. S

On the other hand, if you stroll over from the BC, as I did, nice weather, nice scenery, it can take almost 1/2 hour to stroll over.

Hey, could we use that path to get to the Boardwalk or Epcot? If so how long would it take to get to Epcot from MGM?

The reason I'm asking is, we waited an hour for a boat to Epcot from MGM (we left after Fantasmic)after that the boat ride took a while because of all the stops. I am sure the bus would have been quicker but I thought the boat ride would be fun. We got there in time for the fireworks at Epcot but not much else.

To use that path to get from MGM to Epcot, keep going around the Boardwalk and cross over the bridge next to ESPN. Take a right at the end of the bridge, and you'll soon be at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot. The walk between the parks is pretty long, though -- 30 minutes minimum.

Tar heel is right. I did it one night, I was alone, walking pretty briskly. Checked my watch as I exited the gates at MGM-7:44pm. Looked at my watch while the security people at the International Gateway looked at my bag-8:12.

...by using an easy shortcut.

When heading to MGM from the Beach Club, or the Boardwalk, cut thru the Luna Park pool area.

This will bring you onto the walkway near the tennis courts.

If the weather is agreeable (not too hot!) you can make it from the BWI to the main gate at MGM in 10-15 minutes, depending on your pace.

The time range on this thread seems to be 10-30 minutes. Let me ask this way. How much time does it take from the actual room at BC to walk to the ticket counter at MGM? I am thinking 30 minutes. S

SandraC... People were talking about two different routes, so the range you are referring to is two different numbers. The 25 - 30 minute range is from MGM all the way to Epcot. From the lobby at BC to MGM gate, I would say it 20 minutes. This was walking with a double stroller.

Our current thinking has us riding the boat form the Swan to MGM but thought we would walk back at night after Fantasmic (guessing it would be faster than waiting for a boat). Where do we find the path as we leave MGM? Thanks!

To find the path on leaving MGM, bear right towards the buses, then swing left keeping the water on your left hand side. The path is lit all the way. Keep to the path all the way to the end for Swan, Dolphin, Beach & Yacht. You can save a couple of minutes by cutting through Luna Park pool if you are headed to Boardwalk lobby, Epcot, Flying Fish, Spoodles or ESPN.

Unless you run like fury when you leave Fantasmic! to ensure you are first on the boat, you may have to wait for a couple of boats before you get on. Unless you make that first boat, walking will certainly be faster.

As to time, I would go with the longer rather than shorter estimates. I use an electric powered wheelchair with a top speed of 5-7MPH. (about the same speed as a slow to medium jogger) Flat out, from the MGM turnstyle, around the end of the canal, past the buses, down the path and taking the short cut through Luna Park to the Boardwalk Villas entrance takes me ten to twelve minutes. You are going further, and unless you are running, you will be slower.

*And please, please, PLEASE, do not get up early to beat the crush out of Fantasmic!. They put us wheelchairs in the back row, and whenever anyone stands up in front of me (which inevitably happens) I cannot see the stage area. I have now seen Fantasmic! theree times, but I have never seen the ending.

I always use this walkway..........especially when it is beautiful out and not very hot.....a very pleasurable walk especially in the morning when WDW is coming alive..

Also........I was thinking after reading Andrew's remarks that I guess we never think when we are beating it out of Fantasmic to beat the crowds that we are in fact inhibiting those in wheelchairs from seeing the spectacular end.. I never leave early.. the finale is what is all about... but food for thought...
