Walking trail from WL to Ft Wilderness.. WHERE?

We were watching Great Hotels the other day about the WL. It showed a walking trail between the WL and Ft. Wilderness.

Where is this? What are the two starting points? I am looking at the maps that I have of WDW, and in the Unofficial guide, but can't find any mention of this trail.

There is a very nice paved trail from FW to WL. Come out of the Lodge and go past the bus stop. Continue down the hill (still going to the left) and cross the street. You will see a paved circle--that is the start of the trail. It ends up at FW across from the petting zoo/stables area close to the marina.

There is also a sand beginning to the trail somewhere in the WL area, but I can't help you there.

The sand trail at WL begins next to where you rent bikes, I believe. Maybe someone can verify.

The paved path is not lighted, so if you walked it at night you would definitely need a flashlight. We rode bikes on it during the day and we saw a deer and a couple of armadillos.

Yes, the unpaved nature trail does start by the bike rental shop at WL which is located off behind Hidden Springs, the pool closest to the Villas. It roughly follows the shore line of the lake. The path(s) leading off to hook up to the paved walk aren't marked, but they do look like trails so you won't get lost. The total distance from WL to FW is approximately 1 mile via the walk or trail, though I'd put it at just slightly less if you just go to the petting zoo. My best wildlife sighting was a hawk, on the ground, just off the walk. He watched me approach (I was out for a run) until I got within 10 feet before fllying off with a small field mouse for his dinner.
