No, sorry this isn't a question about an offsite hotel that is at the "maingate" of Disney and if I'll be able to walk from there....cause we have certainly heard that one before. Rather my question is about some Signatures I have seen on some Diser's posts that said "I'm walking to Disney World" and kept up with how many miles they have walked or jogged I am guessing. My question, I guess, is how does that work? Have you just calculated mileage from your home to Disney and add up your walking and jogging. I think that is the coolest idea....gives some more incentive to walking and jogging and makes it more fun.........it could certainly use the help. :sad2: Just wondering how many Diser's were doing this....it's a great idea. :wave2:

I saw an article about this in our local paper a few months ago. Apparently a teacher in one of the elementary schools is a big Disney fan. So, for a class project, all the kids are walking at recess around the school track and recording their miles. Once they walk to Disney World (the distance from the school to WDW) I believe that the class is having a Disney themed party. Sounds like a cute idea....

Your guess is correct....we use yahoo directions (or other online directions) to calculate distance from our house to WDW (in my case, I calculated it to FW since that's where I'm staying). Then when I go for my walks, I keep track of how many total miles I've walked.

A lot of people on the WISH board are doing it.

After seeing this cool idea on one of the DISer's sigs, I'm doing this too! Like pjynx mentioned, I went to one of the map sites to calculate the distance. I chose Port Canaveral as my destination in honor of our next DCL cruise, but I might change it to WDW if we end up going there in Nov. I keep track of my miles, but your post reminds me to update how far I've gone so far. :)

You may want to visit the W.I.S.H forum too. There are Dis members there doing this too.
