Walking at the Fort

How far is it from the boat dock to the entrance of the Fort? There will probably be days when we need to go to the entrance to pay down the balance on our KTTW. We'll probably use internal buses for that or do it before getting on a bus for DHS or AK (that is close to the bus stop, correct?). Just curious how long of a walk it would be from one end to the other.

The distance is probably 2 miles. To answer your other question yes the bus stop for EPCOT, DHS and AK are at the front close to the entrance.

Actually the distance from the Outpost to the Settlement area is approx. 1 mile and is easily walkable - really a nice stroll if the weather is nice - approx. 15-20min. walk. But, we have never had a problem with the internal buses, have never rented a cart in the many years we have been going to FW.

Sorry, my bad! Was thinking from the outpost to the settlement bus stop (failed to notice that you meant from the FW 'entrance' to the 'boat dock'.

Using my jogging distance measurement tool from the tip of the dock straight up to the checkout building is 1.4 miles. It's flat and very walkable.

Bama-Ed's measurements sound about right. On a hot day and you are in a hurry you probably want to take a bus. Otherwise it is a nice stroll. Probably about 25 -30 minutes. I know next time we will bring our bikes and FW is very easy biking distance.

. . . as the crow-flies, almost exactly 1-mile
. . . as you would walk, just under 1½-mile
2) But, to pay your bill
. . . go to the Concierge Window at the Settlement
. . . it is to the left of the HDDR Box Office window (next to restrooms)
. . . the window is manned by a Concierge 9:00am-4:00pm
. . . it is a full service window for payments, check cashing, tickets, ADR's, questions

The last time we were there (waaaay back in 1996, I was 16) we were in the cabins in loop 2600. We had the first cabin. I walked EVERYWHERE! We were lucky cuz our pool was right across the road but to walk to the Meadow Depot only took at most 10 minutes. My brother and I rarely used the busses...can't say the same for my aunt but she was 80 at the time . You can walk to the Trading Post or Trails end in about 15/20 minutes at most. If you study the maps you'll be able to find some "shortcuts" depending on where you are staying.

When I go next year I'll have no car and I'll be walking everywhere.
