If I end up staying at one of the Disney Springs Hotels (probably Doubletree) are there any issues with walking back to my hotel from either Disney Springs or SSR late at night? If I'm staying until the very last call at MK, for instance, and straggle back to SSR at 12:30 a.m. or something, is it safe to walk from SSR to DS and on to Doubletree?

I wouldn't do it, that's for sure!
It may not be bad from SSR to DS because there may be other people walking back to SSR from DS and you're still within property.
Walking to the Doubletree on Hotel Plaza Blvd by myself is a HELL NO!

I completely agree! I saw a lot of people walking back and forth between the Hilton across the street which seemed okay during the daytime. I would be hesitant to walk at midnight to the Hilton across the street let alone the double tree which is a little farther down. I don't think I would feel safe walking that late without well lit paths next to a very busy road. I know there's a sidewalk, but still wouldn't do it. I'd uber from MK if there isn't a bus option.

Wow, that's good to know. We're not an easy or obvious target (a middle aged couple, one 20s male, one male teen), but... why take a chance?

Can I assume that daytime is fine?

It is really going to be up to you and your comfort level when it comes to walking at night. The sidewalks aren't overly brightly lit but bright enough to see the path and it's pretty normal to see Disney security having a strong presence in that area that late at night around DS.
Have never felt unsafe running around that area early in the morning before the sun is up, but do recognize there tends to be less vehicle traffic at that time compared to around midnight.
Certainly it's safe during the day and the sidewalks/walking paths are all well maintained.

No, it's completely safe and fine.

The only area I'd be a little leery of is the airport area hotels right outside Orlando MCO airport

I think you'll be fine any time. If it were just me a female walking along alone it be one thing (though I have walked through the parking lots there alone at night). That area is busy until at least midnight and perfectly fine to walk around. There will be others walking as well, some that are spending evening at Disney Springs but staying at hotels just outside Disney Springs.

I've only walked from DS to a DS hotel, but that was years ago, on NYE, after going to House of Blues for a series of hard rock concerts (ended around 2 AM) I knew we'd be walking!

I found it perfectly safe.

It IS safe, very safe in fact, IMHO the PP stating that its "not safe" are being rather dramatic.. It's not so much whether it is safe or not, its about the fact on how far you are willing to physically walk after having spent an entire day at a theme park, a walk from DS/SSR all the way to DT DS can be a very far and exhausting walk for some. IMO I would just Uber/Lyft from the park to your hotel at the end of the night..

Check the closing time for Disney Springs. Right now the latest posted closing times are 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., depending on the date.

As others have said, make your life easier and get an Uber from MK to the Doubletree.

No safety problems walking around that area, but after walking around all day, it's a long, long walk from Disney Springs to the Doubletree. Well worth a cab/uber/lyft ride.

It's only long the first time.

And you can always take the LYNX bus from Disney Springs to the Doubletree or from just under the bridge/Disney Springs/Hilton to Doubletree if feet are tired. There's a bus stop right in front of the Double Tree street entrance.

Does the LYNX bus run that late?

Google maps says its about 1.5 miles from House of Blues to the Doubletree.

I think you will be safe, but as others have said, it might be a long walk.
there is a place to catch an Uber ( an Uber dropping point) at Disney Springs.i am sure it will be east to get an Uber from there , until Disney Springs closes for the night.
