Walk ups at TRex in DTD

Hey all-

Just wondering the feasibility of walking up to dinner at TRex on a Saturday night in the beginning of May. We're 2 adults and 1 highchair - probably try to do an earlier dinner and I know the week were there is labeled as a relatively low volume week. However, I'd have to imagine on any Saturday night this place is fairly packed and the fact that no ADRs are available 2.5 months out is probably a testament to this. Anyone have experience with this?

And then I guess a follow up question would be that if its a long wait kind of place (like I expect it to be) - is it worth it?? Were not expecting anything special from the food and obviously are going for the atmosphere, but a decent meal would be a plus, especially for the wait+money.

Thanks all.

we were there the begining of last Oct when it was a low week too,
our friends tried to get a walk up a 3.30 on a wednesday and they were booked solid.
They were able to get a walk in at rain forest cafe though

You can call TRex direct and make a reservation. Every time I call Disney Dining I can't get a reservation but the restaurant usually has some open tables. Good luck.

We went last year with a reservation... I wouldn't count on it.
They seem to be packed solid every day.

We made reservations online, through Disney's reservation service and it worked fine. Some people say you have to call the restaurant directly, but that is not the case...

Okay, this was our experience & what I found out. I tried to get ADR thru disney & there were none for a Sat night in early Feb (low crowd week). I was told by wonderful Dis'ers to call TRex directly. I did & got a 6 pm ressie about 3 months out. When we got there that Sat night, it was crazy busy w/a huge line for walk ups. The people in walk up line kept telling us TRex doesn't do ressies, only walk ups. I explained I had called 3 mos ago & got a ressie.
I asked TRex people & they said they give ressies to people who are coming in from out of state when they call in advance. They don't give ressies to locals b/c they have more opportunities to go there than people visiting only for a week.
SO, call TRex directly & in advance for a ressie. DO NOT do walk up as you will be waiting for about 45 min-1 hr. The food is only okay (Rain forest Cafe level), but the theme is cool. Both DS's loved it. We sat in the ocean area. We thought the ice age section was very cool.

I was told from a CM thru dining ressies that they only have a few ressies for each night for TRex, so if they don't have one available doesn't necessarily mean there are none at all. Just call TRex directly & you'll get one.

Last Fall I tried to get a reservation online..no luck. Then called Disney...no luck. Called TRex directly and was able to get the date and time we needed.

Definitely call T-rex directly, it is a very fun restaurant. Disney dining will show very limited availability, and when we called T-rex they had many open spots and was able to get exactly what time I wanted. Their # is 407-828-trex.

We had a wonderful experience last March with walk up availability. BUT it was not on a Saturday evening. We also were able to get a ADR through Disney for this March. I think it is just hit or miss.

Good luck!

We did a walk up (no ressie) this past Wednesday night and it was loud, crazy and busy, but we still got seated within a half hour. :upsidedow

I'm glad to see all the positive feedback, as I just started another thread asking about this.

I also was having trouble booking online for a Saturday in August, yesterday (it will be our first evening in town so no park time)...so I called the restaurant and the hostess was glad to make the reservation. She told me they only put aside about four to six "priority seating" slots for WDW, but they had plenty of openings for people who call directly. :goodvibes Looking forward to it and so is DS7!

We made a reservation directly with T Rex for late January and it went very well. Our sons (7, 4 and 1) loved it. It's their "must do" for our next trip.

Thanks so much for the tip. I was trying to get reservations for us on the day we arrive in the afternoon, and the online booking said there was nothing available:( I just called and no problem- I had my choice of times. Thanks so much! It is suppose to rain that day so it will be something fun for us to do to kill some time.

WE went in August when they were giving away free dining and couldn't get in but the bar area is first come first serve and you don't need to be 21 to set at the bar so we got right in and there was a line a mile long outside. but my daughter is 12 but I did see others with younger there as well.

We were there on a Sat. night last Sept. and the walk up wait was over an hr.

Last May we went to DTD and had no plans for the dining for that evening (not sure what day it was). TRex had a 2 hour wait for walk ups. Our 4 year old wasn't that interested and we were hungry, so we somewhere else.
