We are going the last week of Sept- do you think we would be able to do a walk up for lunch or dinner at one of the MK resorts restaurants w/o an ADR (not a character meal). I'm thinking if we need a break from the park and do you recommend any? thx

You can probably walk up at Kona, The Wave, or the Grand Floridian Cafe. I wouldn't try it at 'Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, or Chef Mickey's. None of which are open for lunch anyway so it might not matter, LOL.

True, theyre not open for lunch. Lol. But I have a different way of looking at it, you never know until you try. If you want chef mickeys that bad, I think its worth trying to walk up right when they re-open for dinner. You never know how many no shows they will get. But dont get your hopes up. CM's is a pretty popular place and is always booked.

Try looking for ressies several times a day online until the day of your trip. I've done this and got all the ressies i wanted. Something always pops up if you search enough times. Also, ask concierge and/or guest services at the parks to check for you as well. good luck!

I agree, keep checking something will pop up! I called for almost two weeks straight several times a day to get CM once. I did see that someone recently did a walk up at O'hana and got right in...if you do decide to walk up try to go at an off time. Like a late lunch or early dinner, you may have better luck. GOOD LUCK:goodvibes

As the first replier said, you should be able to get a walk-up reservation at the Wave and the Grand Floridian Cafe. The latter is one of my favorite restaurants on property, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Kona might be a bit more tough to get as a walk up, though. It depends on how busy the it is in the parks and the resort. It's possible to get seated as a walk-up, there, but it can fill pretty quickly.

BTW, I would recommend you check for availability online rather than calling. Its so much faster. The amount of time you spend on hold waiting to talk to a CM you could have easily checked 3 times for an ADR!

I agree with goofyintoronto - definitely try! It really can't hurt. I got a walk up at Kona Cafe at the end of August. We had a reservation for later in our vacation but wanted to try it earlier - we waited all of 2 minutes. I saw people get a walk in @ Ohana breakfast one morning. It's just all about timing so definitely ask! Worse comes to worse all the monorail hotels have good CS options. I love the adult grilled cheese at Captain Cooks, the roasted chicken salad at Gasparilla was great, too! Have a fun trip!!

We go at the end of sept a lot and I will often call about 45 mins before we want to eat, and secure an ADR that way. You just have to be sure to call >30 mins or they can't make you a ressie.
