DH & I will be arriving at SSR around lunch time for our trip in Dec. We had thoughts of having lunch at the Turf Club but since we do not know exactly what time we will be arriving we have not made an ADR. Will we be safe to just walk up and be seated without a ressie?

For lunch you should be fine. They can be booked up for dinner, but we've walked up for lunch twice. No problems.

1) Walk-ups at Turf Club are frequently easy to get.
2) The eatery is seldom that crowded.
. . . out of the way for most guests
. . . somewhat expensive for the menu items
. . . mediocre food quality

NOTE: I know there are many folks who like the Turf Club, so take this as our opinion. But if favorable opinions were a universal reflection, it would be always crowded. After all, it is not that large of a venue.

We have only eaten dinner there (in Oct. and Dec.) and we've not needed a reservation. The food was good, not great and was a little pricey. But I feel that way about most Disney restaurants! Except the ones that are a lot pricey. ;)

We went for dinner last week Wednesday and the lobby concierge at our resort (OKW) called ahead and they said to come over and they would squeeze us in. We then waited about 30 minutes for a table and the place was heaving. We liked the food, but the menu seemed to have similar food to Olivia's at OKW, but prepared somewhat fancier and with a higher price tag. In future we just stick to Olivia's if we don't fancy going very far for dinner.

We ate there last month and we had a 30 minute wait with an ADR for dinner. The place was full. It was the best meal we had during our entire trip and we can't wait to go back. I thought their lava cake was better than the wave at Coral Reef. And our server was the best we had during our entire 10 day trip.

I've always joked that Olivia's and Turf Club share a kitchen and someone runs back and forth with the food. Their menus are VERY similar.

We ate at the Turf Club once for dinner and found nothing exciting about it at all. We do love, on the other hand, Olivia's for lunch. Maybe if you have time, take the boat to Olivia's for lunch instead?

Our only experience with the Turf Club would suggest that on that evening walk ups would have been turned away. We had a ressie and still waited for almost an hour. The restaurant got "slammed" due to rain I believe (so maybe walk ups were being taken and ADRs weren't being considered) and they had a small staff that evening. There was one person tending bar and being the cocktail waitress. It took as long to get drinks as it did to get a table. After the frustration of waiting that long I really didn't enjoy the food. We are going to try it again on our next trip because we are again staying at SSR. I'm hoping for a better result.

PS - I suppose the rain might have just closed the outside dining area thus reducing the tables available for guests and increasing the wait even for ADR guests?
