Walk to DHS?

We're staying at BWV, and I know we can walk to DHS from there. However, if we go to breakfast at Captain's Grille first at Yacht Club, could we walk from there also? Or is it too far and we would have to wake the boat? Which is closer to DHS?

We're tossing around going to Captain's Grille for breakfast one morning on the way to DHS...right now we have the character breakfast at DHS booked for an hour before rope drop, but we may drop it because my kids are not as into those characters as they used to be (especially JoJo & Goliath who disappeared from Playhouse Disney a while ago). Still don't know what we will ultimately end up doing though. If it is too far to walk from Captain's Grille we can always go to BW Bakery for breakfast (we're on the DDP and will have an extra CS credit to use anyway).

From Yacht Club, the walk to DHS adds about 1/4 mile to what it would be from BWV. There is a bridge from BWV to S/D and coming from YC you would cross over that bridge and then walk the BWV route to DHS. Note, you could also just walk to S/D boat dock and catch the boat to DHS since from there it is a direct trip.

you can walk from any of the resorts around the boardwalk (BWv, BCV, yC, dolphin or swan) to DHS or epcot. they all circle the lake and are connected by a walk way. DHS is closest to BWV (go out toward the quiet pool or valet parking area to get on the walking path). It is a 15 - 20 minute walk. sometimes if you've just missed the boat its quicker to walk than wait for another boat.

Thanks for the replies!

Would it be better to go to the Swan or Dolphin for breakfast so it is a shorter walk to DHS than it would be from the Yacht Club?

I guess I don't walk as fast. From YC it would take me at least 30 min, from S&D at least 20.

It may be faster then the boat but why walk when you can ride? In the parks you will do plenty of walking. :goodvibes

We enjoy the boat to DHS from YC, too.

Breakfast at Captain's Grille is not fancy but good. Breakfast is offered a la carte or "characterless" buffet.

Fresh at the Dolphin is good. It's a buffet but better than a typical one. They offer a DVC discount.

Breakfast at Kouzzina at the BW is another option for you.

Maybe we'll try Fresh at the Dolphin. I'll check it out. The fact that there is a DVC discount is really good. I believe there is also a discount at Captain's Grille, but it is 10%. Kouzzina is an option but doesn't seem like anything special. There is also the option of in-room dining for breakfast if we want to treat ourselves.

If a character breakfast is what you want, try Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. We really enjoy this with the kids. It is a must do every trip. It is closer to DHS(slightly) than Captain Grille. It is a pleasant lakeside walk to DHS from anywhere on the Boaedwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, or Dolphin. It is a lighted, concrete sidewalk type walking path.

We have walked to DHS from the BC ( a bit longer than from the YC) and it is certainly do-able. I think it also took us close to 1/2 hour. We have also taken the boat, which is a nice ride too.
I certainly don't think the small difference between the walk from the YC or the S/D should determine where you will eat. Walking from the YC versus the S/D only adds a little to your walk. None of these areas are really far from each other.
Have a Great Trip

The BC is not closer to DHS then the YC I think you a little confused on that one.:confused3 The BC is the closest resort to Epcot but the farthest away from DHS. You are correct though that the breakfast at Cape May is a good character breakfast.:thumbsup2

If you go to the Captain's Grill just walk straight out to the dock and catch the boat to HS. Its straight out the the exit you would take from the YC and you have to walk right by it if you walk to HS anyways. I wouldn't want to do that walk before I got to the park its not a short walk from the YC.

Hubby and I had breakfast at Kouzzina's in Oct..not sure if the menu has changed but we love it

Thank you everyone for all the help!

We already have a reservation for the Cape May character breakfast on the last morning of our trip. We like to end the trip with a character breakfast just before hitting the road...kind of makes the last night less depressing!

We'll either end up at Kouzzina or Fresh. I'm leaning more towards Fresh, and DH doesn't really care. We still may end up doing the H&V character breakfast before rope drop, but not sure yet. We'll keep that ressie until we decide for sure, but if we end up not going I will be sure to actually call and cancel it! I would never just be a no-show!

there's a really good and reasonable breakfast cafeteria at dolphin (on ground level0 called Picabo's.

Dolphin ( and even Swan for that matter ) isn't going to save all that much walking over YC with walking up to & inside those hotels and you'll still be crossing back on bridge to BWV side to get to DHS walking path. jmho boat is best option, especially during summer months it can be pretty darn hot even during the morning hours, and usually the crews are very pleasant interacting with little ones so that can be fun for the kids.

:)
