Hello!
TYIA for your help with this! I created another thread previously about getting to the port via rental car and everyone was so knowledgable, I was hoping you could help again. A few questions if you don't mind… If somebody could help me understand the "walk off" procedure on disembarkation that would be great. (I'm sure I'm using the wrong terminology in "walk off," but it's what everyone talks about when not putting their bags out the night before) Do we have to let anybody know ahead of time or do we just keep our bags with us and leave the ship whenever we want. If we choose this method, do we go through customs the same way? Also has anybody had experience renting from National and trying to get a car from Port Canaveral to Walt Disney World and about what time did you arrive at the Magic Kingdom? We are Emerald Isle patrons so at MCO we just walk to the isle and grab our car ... Can we do the same at PC location? Thanks again! Cheers!

My husband is an Executive Aisle guy with National but at the Cocoa Beach/PC location he had to wait in line (granted they had a special line for Executives). It didn't take too long, but everyone on the shuttle from the Port was in line behind us (so maybe 6 families). I'd plan on at least 30-45 minutes for the shuttle to the car rental location, getting the car, getting the car packed, etc.

THANK YOU!!! This is fantastic information!!! That's exactly what I was looking for!! Cheers!

We went to Alamo just last week(I think they are with National if I am not mistaken). I went ahead and sent my luggage ahead, truly did not want to mess with it. We went to Cabanas about 710am, disembarked 730am, had a porter grab our stuff, no line through customs and paid $5 per person(3 of us) for a taxi. Got to Alamo, 6 people working and absolutely no line. She did say they had 160 rentals that day, so glad I grabbed the cab and got there early. Was on the road before 8am.

We got off the ship the regular way (putting luggage out the night before). We ate breakfast at Cabanas, walked off the ship thru customs. Shuttle to car rental place (we used Alamo but I believe is same as National) was to the right. There was nobody in line for shuttle and the driver did not wait for a full bus. One other family was right behind us. There was no line at the rental place, we were in a car within probably fifteen or so minutes. We all had time to use the bathroom and load up and we were on our way to WDW. I was surprised how easy it was.

We did much the same with Enterprise: put out our luggage the night before, had breakfast in our designated MDR, picked up our luggage and went through customs in a matter of minutes, then caught the shuttle to the car rental location. I think I was in line maybe 5 minutes, but we left the ship later than most so I think I missed the rush. We were in no particular hurrry and left the ship about 9am and were at our hotel (downtown Orlando where DW was attending a conference) by 10.30 or so.

We will be doing this again next year as once again DW is attending a conference at the same location and I'll be needing a car to get to WDW each day.

THANK YOU for this "heads up!" We will pay the $15 (3 of us too) and grab the cab unless there is no wait for the shuttle and it leaves right away :-) ... well worth getting to MK early :-)

What are the National cars going for? I have a full size from Avis for $40 (with all taxes). This is for the Port to MCO.

As for picking up a car at MCO, it is the same where you know in advance what space you car is in, you just get in and go.

Pretty much the same... $39 ... We use National as my husband gets a discount through his work and usually we are renting for the week so we save quite a bit, but for the day rates we found all places are the same. Stayed with National so we could get the day credit for future "free rentals." :-)
