....to your nearest theatre to see "Pirates of the Carribean."
I can't remember when I've enjoyed a movie this much.

Sorry, I know this is off topic but we really enjoyed the movie and I just had to urge you to go see it.

I'd like to know about the 7 yr old too. My DH has already told my son they could see it because he got really excited about the previews and then I gave him the evil eye. How scary is this???

Hi. It is a fabulous movie.
I have a 7 1/2 year old boy. I did not take him. I wanted to screen it first. It is an intense movie. Action packed. Lots of plot twists. The mummy skeleton's are visually "in your face" for long periods of time; HOWEVER, when they are on screen it is usually in a "block" of time so kiddos can hide their eyes until they are gone. Toward the end of the movie, the skeleton's are in and out of scene's and it is actually quite mavelous. The film is extremely humorous. The humor is a bit slap stick BUT it is also very clever and satirical. My son is very bright but I don't know if he would get all of the humor. For instance, a very funny thing happens when the beautiful girl is wearing a corset for maybe the first time. What happens to her is just not supposed to happen in movies (someone of her social standing). I don't think my son would get how funny that was. Johnny Depp is quirky and has fabulous lines. I don't know if my son would get all of the banter. There is only one scene that is a little bit sexual. After the pirates have had the girl once in their possession, and then they come to have her again in their possession the captain says something like "this time we aren't going to be so hospitable" and then he throws her to the crew. The crew has her in their "grips" and they are pulling at her hair and clothing (but not in the obvious places). We as adults wonder why this hasn't all happened earlier in the movie... This scene doesn't last long because Orlando Bloom of course changes the course.

All in all I will not take my 7 year old to see it. He has seen all of the Star Wars and Harry Potter. He has seen the Raiders movies but some of the shooting etc. was gross for him in those movies.
I did not let him watch Lord of the Rings: Two Towers at the movies, but I will probably let him watch the DVD and I will screen parts. Movies just become so intense on the big screen.

I hope this helps and wasn't too lengthy.

Tithonia

Tithonia,

Thank you for your reply. I think your review was right on the mark. It's funny because my kids are a bit older and I didn't have to worry about it being to intense for them. Had my son been younger I probably would have been concerned about the more intense seens. Each child is different and can handle different levels of intensity. My suggestion would be to do as Tithonia did and screen the movie first. The movie is enjoyable enough to see it twice. In the words of my son(12), the movie was AWESOME.

Concerned parents check it out on Screenit.com. It will go into much detail about all aspects of the movie.
